The climactic assault to end Pantheon, ending with the Black Sea showdown.
Setting: The Rook, Burgas Province, Bulgaria · 16 February 1991
The challenge here is Fatal Variety: get a kill with twelve different weapons. A defence mission is the right place for it — there are dropped guns everywhere — but only if you keep swapping instead of settling into the one you like. Pick up what the last one dropped, get a kill, move on.
How this one works
The last mission, and it runs at the same time as Separation Anxiety: one story in two places. Here you are defending The Rook — the safehouse — against a Pantheon assault, and the second objective is that Harrow does not get out.
The frame is an interrogation: Harrow has been unmasked as the CIA mole. Woods stays with her — he is in a wheelchair and is not going anywhere — and keeps questioning her while Marshall, Case, Adler, Sev and Felix hold the building.
The defence runs in stages rather than a flat wave count: an opening assault, then a trip to the shed for sentry turrets that triggers a second wave, then two Juggernauts to bring down, and a third Pantheon assault on the front yard to close it out. Along the way an APC shows up — destroy it with an RC-XD instead of gunfire and you get David vs Goliath as well, with two RC-XDs to attempt it and a checkpoint if the first one goes wrong.
What finishing it gives you
- Fatal Variety — the challenge: a kill with twelve different weapons, only obtainable while playing as Case.
- David vs Goliath — destroy the APC with an RC-XD instead of shooting it down.
- Buried at Sea — for completing this mission, Checkmate, on any difficulty.
- Case Closed — for completing the whole campaign, which this mission ends.
