Defection has no trophies and no collectibles. Counter Attack has Long Shot (silver), earned in its last section on the hotel roof; read Long Shot before you reach the hotel, because a missed shot means reloading the checkpoint quickly.
Defection
Where: a North Korean airbase, straight after Stranded, with Lieutenant Ko Jin-Hyuk’s help. You play as Private Park Hyun-Jun with Kal, and later take control of two squadmates. The job: sabotage the hypersonic missile carriers inside, then hold out until the helicopter comes.
-
1
Deactivate the generator
Take any silenced gun from the truck and follow Kal into the facility. Two guards stand by the generator switch: shoot one while Kal takes the other. Kal cuts the power; switch on your night vision goggles and kill the two guards who come through the door.
-
2
Plant the explosives
Follow Kal to the first missile carrier and plant the explosive on it, then to the second, where two guards stand at the control panels. At the third carrier, do not plant yet: watch the double door on the east side. When it opens, four guards come out; kill them all quickly, or they call in reinforcements with attack dogs. Then plant the last charge and leave through the double doors.
-
3
Attack the airbase
Outside, take cover with Moon and Kal and fight off the attack across the airbase. When prompted, look towards the control tower and hold the button to switch to Jae: with his sniper rifle, clear the soldiers on the roofs of the two long buildings who are firing at Dunn. Then switch to Dunn on the square building’s roof and use his RPG on the mortar, the vehicles and the three BMPs that follow. If a BMP is out of his line of fire, switch back to Park and use a bomb drone from the chest near him. A helicopter comes last: Dunn’s RPG or a bomb drone.
-
4
Escape the airbase
When the friendly helicopter lands, cross the runway to it and climb in, then hold the button to set off the explosives. The cutscene that follows leads into Counter Attack.
Which token: Game8 and GamesAtlas say finishing Defection gives a Double Weapon XP Token; Insider Gaming says a Double XP Token.
Counter Attack
Where: Hajin City. US and South Korean forces land on the beach to take the city back, and you go in with Sergeant Jae, Corporal Dunn and the Mayhem armored squad. The new tool is the Spotter Scope: mark a target with it and friendly fire support deals with it.
-
1
The beach and the Spotter Scope
Follow Jae up the beach, using the armored vehicles as cover, to a crater where Dunn waits with a spotter. The spotter is shot when he raises his head: take the Spotter Scope he drops. Mark targets in the building ahead and on the wall; after the first mark a BMP rolls in, so mark it too. Then push up the street with the team into the Han-Go Restaurant.
-
2
The enemy hardpoint
Inside, follow Jae to the kitchen; an armored soldier with a shotgun (a Rezi 12 Enforcer) appears at the back, and his shotgun is worth taking for the close rooms above. On the stairs, grenades come down from the floors above: throw them back or step back down. On the fourth floor, go into the furthest bedroom; when Dunn says the enemy is behind the wall, plant the breaching charge, blow it and clear the room. It has ammo and flash grenades on a table. Clear the roof and climb down the scaffolding at the back. Before you go down, a Mosin-Nagant sniper rifle from one of the dead on the roof helps with the longer fights that follow.
-
3
Support your squad
Advance with Mayhem’s vehicles; you can restock plates and ammo behind them, and they carry LMGs if you want to swap. In the construction site, use the Spotter Scope on the two machine-gun nests in the building ahead, and watch that building for a soldier with an RPG. Clear the site, then follow Mayhem into the apartment building, clear the apartment upstairs and help Jae lift the rubble. From the gap, mark the hotel floor the rockets are coming from; Mayhem deals with it and with the tank that follows. Then drop to the street and advance on the hotel.
-
4
Secure the hotel
An armored vehicle breaks the barricaded entrance. Clear the lobby, then take the elevator up (the Spotter Scope does not work indoors). Sweep the balcony and the rooms; enemies wait in corners, so grenades help. In the conference room three soldiers hold civilians: one left, one right, one in the middle. Tag Jae to breach and shoot carefully: hitting a hostage fails the mission. Then follow Jae to the roof and clear it.
-
5
Overwatch from the roof
Find your allies by their green smoke in the street and use the Spotter Scope on the enemies around them and on the rooftops nearby, including the city hall in the middle; RPG teams come first. A KG-7 Vulcan sniper rifle lies by the missile launcher next to you. When enemy tanks arrive, mount the missile launcher and use its thermal sight (friendly units show strobes; do not fire on them). An enemy sniper in the damaged building nearby goes for you: counter-snipe him or mark him. Two mortar teams also turn up in this section; that is the trophy below. The last tank ends the mission when you destroy it.
Finishing Counter Attack unlocks Dunn as an Operator for multiplayer and DMZ.
Long Shot
Long Shot (silver): snipe all 4 enemies firing the mortars in Counter Attack. It happens during the overwatch from the hotel roof: two mortar teams of two men each appear, one after the other. Use the KG-7 Vulcan from beside the missile launcher, and aim slightly high for bullet drop.
-
1
The first team
Right after the first enemy tank is destroyed with the missile launcher, look at the roof above where it was, on the left side of the city hall roof. Kill both; the second man runs when the first falls.
-
2
The second team
After the enemy sniper is dealt with, the second team appears on the roof further left of the first. This one fires at you, so be quick, and catch the survivor before he reaches the far exit. The trophy unlocks when both teams are down.
If one of a team’s two men gets away, reload the last checkpoint straight away. Wait too long and the autosave can overwrite the checkpoint, and you would have to replay the mission from mission select.

Cross-checked
Cross-checked on 21 October 2026. The missions’ order and settings were checked against the mission lists of IGN, Game8, Insider Gaming, Dexerto and Polygon; the trophies against PowerPyx, Game8, Insider Gaming and games.gg; the rewards against Insider Gaming, Game8 and GamesAtlas. The Long Shot method (two teams of two, where each appears, reloading after a miss) is given the same way by PowerPyx and Game8. The step-by-step routes for both missions follow Game8’s walkthroughs, the only full ones published so far. Not from a playthrough: nobody here has played it, and what the sources do not describe is not on this page.
