1. The World of Pywel & The First Unifier
Pywel is a vast continent torn apart by endless mercenary wars, but it wasn't always this way. Hundreds of years ago, the continent was united by a single ruler known as the First Unifier.
The Unifier discovered the Origin Core, an ancient magical anomaly buried deep beneath Demeniss. By tapping into its power, he created the "Axiom Force"—a magic system based on gravity and elements—and used it to conquer all rival kingdoms. However, the Core was actually a tear in reality leading to the Abyss, a dimension of chaotic energy. When the Unifier died, the Abyss began to leak, corrupting the land and driving the subsequent kings to madness.
2. The Major Factions
Once the most honorable mercenary company in Pywel, serving as protectors of the common folk rather than sellswords for the nobility. They were decimated during the "Massacre of Hernand" (seen in the Prologue) by an alliance between the Royal Guard and the Black Bears.
Under Kliff's leadership, the Greymanes are reborn not just as mercenaries, but as a rebellion aiming to dethrone the Corrupted King and restore order.
A brutal and opportunistic mercenary group led by Myurdin. They believe that power is the only truth in Pywel. Myurdin secretly discovered a way to harvest Abyss energy, allowing his lieutenants to mutate into half-monsters. They act as the primary antagonists for the first half of the game.
The descendants of the First Unifier. The current King has been completely consumed by the Abyss Core beneath his throne. He rules as a tyrant, draining the life force of his citizens to feed the Core and keep himself immortal.
3. The Secret Documents Explained
Throughout the game, Kliff finds hidden texts that reveal the dark truths of Pywel. Here are the transcripts and their meanings.

Kliff Macduff

The Blind Oracle
The mysterious old woman in Hernand who upgrades Kliff's skills. Lore reveals she is actually a projection of the Origin Core itself, guiding Kliff to his destiny.
Myurdin
The antagonist. A dark mirror to Kliff. Myurdin represents what Kliff could become if he gave in to anger and the temptation of the Abyss (which happens in Ending A).
