Damage & Status Effects

Nightreign keeps Elden Ring's damage system. Knowing the types — and which status effects wreck which bosses — is how you match a run to a Nightlord.

Damage types

⚔️ Physical
Standard, Strike, Slash and Pierce — most weapons deal one of these. Strike breaks armour; Slash bleeds.
🔮 Magic
Sorceries and cold-affinity weapons; strong against fire-based foes.
🔥 Fire
Great against the frost- and rot-flesh enemies; many beasts fear it.
⚡ Lightning
Hits several Nightlords hard (dragons and beasts especially).
✨ Holy
Punishes undead and Those Who Live in Death; a common Nightlord weakness.

Status effects

🩸 Bleed (Hemorrhage)
Builds up, then bursts for a big chunk of the target's max HP — elite against tanky Nightlords.
❄️ Frostbite
Bursts for damage and makes the target take more damage for a while.
🟢 Poison / Scarlet Rot
Damage over time; Rot is far nastier and melts big health bars.
💤 Sleep
Briefly downs a foe for free hits — strong openers on some Nightlords.
🌀 Madness
Damage plus effects; notably useful against a couple of the Holy-themed Nightlords.

Matching the boss

Each Nightlord resists some types and folds to others — many are weak to Lightning, Fire or Holy. Check the boss before you commit and bring a weapon or affinity that exploits its weakness; the in-run vendors let you pivot.
