The Path to Goron City
Vah Rudania crawls along the crater of Death Mountain in the Eldin region. The air here is literally burning. Before you start climbing the mountain trail from the Foothill Stable, buy at least 3 Fireproof Elixirs from Gaile at the stable.
Drink the elixir and hurry up the trail. Any wooden weapons or shields you have equipped will catch fire and break, so switch to metal gear. Once you reach the Southern Mine, complete the side quest to catch 10 Fireproof Lizards to earn the Flamebreaker Armor (chest piece), or just buy it in Goron City. You only need one piece of the armor to survive the lower half of the mountain.
Escorting Yunobo
Speak to the Goron Boss, Bludo. He will send you to rescue Yunobo, a cowardly but powerful Goron who got trapped in the Abandoned North Mine. Use the cannons in the mine to blast the rocks and free him.
Next, you must escort Yunobo up the final stretch of the mountain to reach Vah Rudania. This section is a stealth escort mission. Sentry drones patrol the path. Whistle to make Yunobo stop or follow. Sneak past the sentries, drop boulders on them using Magnesis, or climb above them and drop remote bombs.
When you reach a cannon, load a spherical bomb into it, hit the switch to turn the cannon, and detonate the bomb to launch Yunobo at Vah Rudania, driving it back into the crater.
Vah Rudania Puzzles
When you enter Vah Rudania, it will be completely dark. You will need a torch or a wooden weapon to carry the blue flame from the entrance.
Lighting the Way & Terminal 1
Carry the blue flame and light the lanterns to open the doors deeper into the beast. Once you reach the main room, light the lantern to open the map terminal. Now you can tilt Vah Rudania 90 degrees, turning walls into floors.
Terminal 2 (The Heavy Doors)
Find the large metal doors blocked by a wooden beam overgrown with leaves. Shoot a Fire Arrow (or throw a lit torch) to burn the leaves and the beam, then use Magnesis to open the doors and access the terminal.
Terminal 3 (The Ball and the Ramp)
Carry the blue flame to the lantern near the metal ball mechanism to release the ball. Tilt the beast 90 degrees to let the ball roll down the long ramp. Follow it down, lift the metal block with Magnesis to let the ball drop into its socket, unlocking the terminal.
Terminal 4 (The Wall Terminal)
One terminal is positioned sideways on the wall. Stand on the long ramp, tilt the beast 90 degrees so the ramp becomes flat, and walk over to the terminal, which will now be upright and accessible.
Terminal 5 (The Dorsal Fin)
Head to the roof of the beast. Tilt it 90 degrees to walk along the spikes on its back. The terminal is located in an alcove near the top. Tilt the beast back to level to access it.
Boss: Fireblight Ganon
Head back to the main control unit on the roof to trigger the boss fight.
Phase 1: He attacks with a massive, slow-swinging greatsword. It's easy to Perfect Dodge or simply sprint away from his slashes. When he throws a spread of fireballs, hide behind the pillars or run horizontally.
Phase 2: At 50% health, he surrounds himself with a fiery shield that makes him immune to arrows and melee attacks. He will hover high above and start sucking in the surrounding air to charge a massive fireball. Throw a Bomb! The vacuum will suck the bomb right into his shield. Detonate it to shatter his shield and drop him to the floor, then go to town on him with your strongest weapon.
Defeating him rewards you with Daruk's Protection, an incredibly useful shield ability that automatically deflects the next three attacks that hit you (even Guardian lasers!).
