FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Answers to the most common questions about mechanics, progression, and secrets in Hyrule.

Progression & Gameplay

You technically can, but it is highly recommended to complete the four Divine Beasts first. Each completed beast subtracts 1/8th of Calamity Ganon's total health, up to a maximum of 50%.

The fastest reliable method is Snowling at Pondo's Lodge in the Hebra Mountains, or farming Dragon Horns (Farosh) at Riola Spring and selling them. Selling cooked meals made with 5x Endura Carrots or 5x Prime Meats also yields a high profit.

A Blood Moon occurs every 2 hours and 48 minutes of real-world active gameplay (menus and pausing do not count). It resurrects all defeated enemies and respawns weapons and materials found in the overworld. Cooking during the peak of a Blood Moon (11:30 PM to 12:00 AM) guarantees a critical success on your meal.

Equipment & Items

You need exactly 13 permanent Heart Containers. Temporary yellow hearts from food or Elixirs will not work. You can exchange Stamina Vessels for Heart Containers at the Horned Statue in Hateno Village if you are short.

Yes, the Hylian Shield can break, though it has massive durability. If it breaks, you can purchase a replacement from Grante in Tarrey Town for 3,000 Rupees, but only after you have fully completed the "From the Ground Up" questline.

Find Korok Seeds hidden around the world and bring them to Hestu. He first appears on the road to Kakariko Village, then moves to the Riverside Stable, and finally permanently settles in the Korok Forest. It costs a total of 441 Korok Seeds to fully upgrade all inventory slots.

World & Survival

You can wear specific armor sets (like the Snowquill or Desert Voe sets), cook meals/elixirs with cooling or warming effects, or simply equip elemental weapons. Having a Flameblade on your back keeps you warm, while a Frostspear cools you down!

Unfortunately, there is no dedicated button to pet the dogs. However, if you stand near them they will show you affection. If you drop 3 or 4 pieces of meat or fruit for a dog at a stable, it will lead you to a hidden treasure chest nearby.

Star Fragments are incredibly rare materials that fall from the sky at night. You must reach them before 5:00 AM or they disappear. They are primarily used to upgrade the most powerful armor sets at the Great Fairy Fountains, as well as amiibo-exclusive clothing.

No, once a standard weapon breaks, it is gone forever. The only exceptions are the Master Sword (which recharges) and the Champion weapons (like the Lightscale Trident), which can be reforged by specific NPCs in their respective towns if you bring them a base weapon and a diamond. Pro tip: A weapon deals double damage on the exact hit that breaks it, so throw a badly damaged weapon at an enemy for a massive critical hit!
