Following Orders has two trophies, No Stone Unturned (every piece of contraband and every note) and No Harm Done (the defector’s location without hurting a civilian), and both fit in the same run. Search each room before you talk to anyone, never pick the threatening answers, and do not shoot or strike a civilian.
Following Orders
North Korea, as power changes hands at the top of the regime. You play an unnamed North Korean soldier who goes from house to house in a village with Lieutenant Ko Jin-Hyuk, hunting a defector before he can cross the border. There is little shooting: the mission is searching houses and questioning the people in them.

The first house: search it first
A husband and wife live here. Before questioning either of them, collect what is hidden in the house:
- MP3 Player (contraband): in the bathroom, to the left of the entrance, in the wall cabinet.
- Western Novel (contraband): through the sliding doors on the left of the living room, next to the television, in the cabinet.
- Baekseolgi-Tteok Recipe (note): in the kitchen, in the first cabinet on the left. Its numbers are the toolbox code.
- Medicine (contraband) and Note From Your Friend (note): through the sliding doors nearest the entrance, in the cabinet, inside a locked red toolbox. The code is 214: the recipe’s quantities with the salt left out, as the note itself says. Shooting the padlock also opens it.
A fourth piece of contraband? IGN and GameRant’s location list also have Rations, in the kitchen cabinet just above the recipe. PowerPyx’s trophy guide counts seven items in the mission (three of contraband, four notes) and does not list the rations, and neither does GameRant’s own walkthrough of the mission. Taking them costs nothing, so take them.

Questioning the couple (No Harm Done)
Do not attack or threaten either of them. Talk to the wife in the kitchen and answer “Please join your husband.”, then “I will not ask again.”; she goes to her husband in the living room. Do not pick “Run while you can.”: she runs into the garden and is shot.
Each item you found opens a question for the husband. The MP3 player and the novel only get explanations; “Ask about South Korean medicine” is the one that matters: the medicine is what makes him give up where the defector is. One guide follows it with “Give up the defector. Now.” Getting the location this way, with nobody hurt, unlocks No Harm Done.

The third house: the key and the hatch
The last two notes are in the third house you search with Ko:
- A Note From Your Neighbor (note): in a bedroom off the entrance, in the cabinet. It mentions food kept under the kitchen floor.
- Key: through the next sliding doors, in the room on the right, hanging in the cabinet by the window.
- Note From Mom (note): in the kitchen, in front of the steaming kettle, is a hatch with a woman hiding beneath it. Open it with the key, then get her out: answer “The defector was found. It’s safe to come out.” (or “No. We’re going outside.”), or use the grab prompt twice. Then climb down into her hiding place: the note is inside.
Do not answer “Okay. Stay hidden.”: the hatch stays shut, the last note is lost for that run, and the choice comes back at the end of the mission. With the last note read, No Stone Unturned unlocks if you found everything above.

The last choice
The mission ends in the village with one more decision, which earns no trophy. Ri Ju-Young orders the defector hanged and hands your soldier the rope: Execute or Refuse. Executing keeps your soldier alive, as long as the woman under the hatch was brought out; if she was left hiding, your soldier is hanged as well. Whatever you choose, the defector dies and the campaign carries on.
What Refuse does: GameRant says Ri Ju-Young executes your soldier; Destructoid says your soldier is hanged from the same tree; GAMES.GG says she shoots him, and that the mission still ends and the campaign continues.
No Stone Unturned: confiscate all of the contraband and read all of the notes in Following Orders. The four notes are the recipe, Note From Your Friend, A Note From Your Neighbor and Note From Mom; the contraband is the MP3 player, the novel and the medicine (and the rations, if they count).
No Harm Done: obtain the defector’s location in Following Orders without hurting any civilians. It is decided in the first house (step 2).
Do these four notes count for Noteworthy? IGN and GAMES.GG put the game’s 64 notes in three missions, this one included, and GameRant’s trophy list counts Following Orders’ four towards Noteworthy (50 notes needed). PowerPyx’s trophy guide says these four do not count towards it, though its own collectibles guide says any 50 notes count.
Reward: finishing Following Orders gives a Double XP Token.
Hired Gun
Paris. Price is back, in an uneasy alliance with Valeria: he helps her smuggle a package in return for a way to reach the man known as the Archer. The mission is fought around trains, and its trophy is about standing on them.

1
On the train cars (Bullet Train)
The whole mission takes place around trains. For the trophy, every kill has to be made while you stand on a train car; whether the train is moving does not matter. Stay up on the cars rather than dropping to the ground or hanging back in cover. One guide warns that the mission does not have many enemies, so advance only once you see none left, or you may run out before reaching 50.

2
A choice you have to get right
Near the end, Price is given the chance to pull the trigger on an old enemy. It is Phillip Graves. Shoot when prompted: if you wait, Graves takes the gun and kills Price, which fails the mission and sends you back to the checkpoint before the choice. Shooting is the only way on.
Kill 50 enemies while standing on train cars in Hired Gun. Any difficulty. If a run ends short of 50, replay the mission from the campaign menu.
Reward: finishing Hired Gun unlocks the Dallas Operator.
Chapter Completion
Following Orders is one of only three missions with notes in them; the other two are later in the campaign. The next mission goes back to Hajin City.

Cross-checked
Cross-checked on 21 October 2026 against IGN’s note locations, code solutions and mission list, the trophy guides and lists of PowerPyx, Insider Gaming, GameRant and GAMES.GG, GameRant’s walkthrough of Following Orders, its note locations, code solutions and its article on the Graves choice, Polygon’s lockbox guide and mission list, the campaign-choice tables of GameRant, Destructoid and GAMES.GG, Insider Gaming’s plot summary, and the reward lists of Insider Gaming, GameRant, Games Atlas and Power Up Gaming. Some of it rests on fewer than three: shooting the padlock (PowerPyx and GameRant); the two answers to the wife and “Give up the defector. Now.” (PowerPyx alone; the GameRant and Destructoid tables confirm what each answer to the wife does); the note about food under the floor (GAMES.GG alone); the trains as the setting of the whole mission (PowerPyx and GAMES.GG) and the advice to advance only when no enemies are left (PowerPyx alone). The search order inside the third house differs between guides, so only the rooms they agree on are given. Not from a playthrough: nobody here has played it.
