Every big fight in Expedition 33 is choreographed. Learn the tells, dodge or parry the combos, and burst during Break windows — bosses are less about raw stats than about reading and answering their rhythm.
How to beat them
- Study the opening minute — attacks repeat, so timing beats reflexes.
- Fill the Break gauge, then unload skills and Gradient attacks while staggered.
- Free-aim weak points between turns to build resources.
- Bring defensive Pictos to learn a fight, then swap to offence once you know it.
Turning a fight around
- Losing? Slow down and focus purely on perfect defence for a rotation to rebuild resources.
- Keep one character on heal/revive duty until you've learned the boss's dangerous combos.
- Watch for phase transitions — bosses often gain new attacks you must re-learn on the fly.
- A clean parry chain can flip a near-wipe into a Break-and-burst kill in one turn.
Handling phase transitions
- Expect a new attack set when a boss changes phase — go back to pure defence to learn it.
- Don't over-commit AP right before a likely transition; keep a defensive answer ready.
- Heal and reposition during the animation windows a phase change often gives you.
- Once you know all phases, plan your Break-and-burst for the most vulnerable one.
