- Drop
- Wilderness Bound, the third game drop of 2026.
- Java Edition
- 26.3, released 15 September 2026. It is still the newest stable Java version.
- Bedrock Edition
- 26.50, released 15 September 2026, followed by two hotfixes: 26.51 (15–16 September) and 26.52 (from 25 September). 26.52 is the newest stable Bedrock version.
- New biome
- Dappled Forest.
- New structure
- Abandoned Camp, in eighteen Overworld biomes.
- New mobs
- None. The dappled forest uses existing animals.
Which version you should be on
- Java Edition: 26.3. Mojang's launcher lists it as the latest release, dated 15 September 2026, and anything numbered 26.4 is still a snapshot.
- Bedrock Edition: the drop arrived as 26.50 on 15 September 2026. Two small hotfixes followed: 26.51 on 15 and 16 September, depending on the platform, and 26.52 on 25 September, which reached iOS, iPadOS and Fire OS on the 28th and Switch on the 29th. Neither hotfix adds content.
- Both editions got the same drop on the same day, so a Java world and a Bedrock world have the same new biome, blocks and structure. The two version numbers simply follow different schemes.
What Wilderness Bound adds
Where Java and Bedrock differ
- Explorer maps: in Java they became separate items with their own icons, and the camp maps point to more structures, including trial chambers, jungle pyramids and woodland mansions. Bedrock's notes list ancient cities, mineshafts, desert pyramids, warm ocean ruins and other camps, and also give explorer maps new icons.
- Java can no longer zoom out explorer maps or buried treasure maps; the Bedrock notes do not mention this.
- Only Java's notes add portal use in spectator mode, Realms invite codes and Gothic as a language. On Linux, Java now prefers Wayland and moved to SDL3 for windows and input.
- Only Bedrock's notes say that a hoe breaks straw beds faster.
