Awakening
You begin your journey inside the Shrine of Resurrection. Examine the terminal in the corner to acquire the Sheikah Slate, your most important tool in the game. Open the two chests ahead for your first clothes, and exit the cave to finally look out over the vast world of Hyrule.
Head down the path to meet the Old Man. Grab the baked apple near his campfire and pick up the Woodcutter's Axe nearby. He will direct you to a waypoint on your Sheikah Slate map.
Every weapon you find has limited durability. Do not get too attached to the Woodcutter's Axe or the tree branches you pick up. Use them until they shatter, and pick up weapons dropped by defeated Bokoblins.
The First Four Shrines
After activating the Great Plateau Tower, the Old Man will offer you his Paraglider in exchange for the treasure at the bottom of the four shrines scattered across the plateau. You can tackle these in any order, but the following path is the most efficient.
Oman Au Shrine (Magnesis)
Located just north of the Tower. Interact with the terminal inside to unlock the Magnesis Rune. Use it to lift the metal plates on the floor and uncover a path forward. Use Magnesis to pull the metal block out of the stone wall to create steps, then cross the metal bridge. Pull the bridge with Magnesis and lay it across the final gap.
Ja Baij Shrine (Bombs)
Head to the Eastern Abbey ruins. Avoid the active Guardian by hiding behind walls. Inside, you will unlock the Bomb Rune (both spherical and cubic). Use bombs to blow up the cracked glowing blocks blocking your path. For the moving platform, place a bomb on it, let it travel to the other side, and detonate it to break the wall.
Owa Daim Shrine (Stasis)
Travel south to the snowy Mount Hylia. Important: You will start freezing here. Cook Spicy Peppers (found near the Temple of Time or the Old Man's hut) with meat to create Spicy Meat and Seafood Fry to survive the cold, or grab the Warm Doublet from the Old Man. Inside the shrine, unlock the Stasis Rune. Use it to freeze the spinning gear to cross the bridge. Later, use Stasis on the giant boulder rolling down the narrow path, hit it a few times to build kinetic energy, and launch it out of the way.
Keh Namut Shrine (Cryonis)
Located on the western edge of the snowy region. Unlock the Cryonis Rune. Use it to create ice pillars on the water surface to climb the wall. Further in, use Cryonis under the tilted gate to raise it. When fighting the Guardian Scout, use an ice pillar as a shield or a stepping stone to jump over its attacks.
The Temple of Time & The Paraglider
With all four Spirit Orbs collected, the Old Man will instruct you to meet him where four shrines intersect—the Temple of Time.
Pray to the Goddess Statue inside the temple and choose to upgrade either your Hearts or Stamina (we highly recommend Stamina). Then, climb to the roof of the temple where the Old Man is waiting.
He will reveal his true identity as King Rhoam Bosphoramus Hyrule and explain the tragedy that befell the kingdom 100 years ago. Finally, he will hand over the Paraglider, allowing you to safely leap from the Great Plateau and begin your true adventure.
