The Elder Scrolls VI: Sentinel: What Bethesda Has Confirmed, and What It Has Not
Name
The Elder Scrolls VI: Sentinel, revealed on 3 November 2026.
Setting
Hammerfell, the Redguard homeland in western Tamriel.
Release
No date and no window. Bethesda says it will be some time before it shares more.
Platforms
None officially announced.
Gameplay
None shown in public.
Where things stand
The teaser of 3 November 2026 gave the game a name and a place. It showed no gameplay and gave no date. Almost everything else you will read about Sentinel today is a report, a reading of the teaser or an older statement, so each page of this guide says which is which.
Confirmed by Bethesda
The full title
Todd Howard gave the name at the end of a video marking 40 years of Bethesda Game Studios, and a short teaser followed. Bethesda then published the teaser on its own as the official name reveal.
The location
The teaser text names Hammerfell, and Bethesda's post that day said it was glad to share the name and the location. Sentinel is also the name of a major city and kingdom in that province.
Creation Engine 3
Howard named the engine in February 2026, and the studio update of 17 July 2026 repeated it. Fallout 5 is being built on it too.
The studio's main project
The same July update called the game the studio's primary development focus. Bethesda Game Studios develops it and Todd Howard leads it.
A return to a classic style
In February 2026 Howard described it as a classic Bethesda RPG in the line of Oblivion and Skyrim, after what he called a creative detour with Fallout 76 and Starfield.
Reported, but not confirmed
The main story deals with the history of the Elder Scrolls themselves. This comes from Tom Warren's report in The Verge on 29 October 2026, the same report that correctly gave the name and the setting. Bethesda has not said it.
The game is more than two years away. This is Bloomberg reporter Jason Schreier's statement on 3 November 2026, not a date from Bethesda.
The game is set in or after 4E 206. That is only the date on the quote in the teaser, and Bethesda has not said when the game takes place.
Not announced yet

Cross-checked
Cross-checked on 4 November 2026 against Bethesda's teaser and its post of 3 November 2026 as quoted by Vice, Dexerto and The Escapist, and the reports of Kotaku, The Escapist, KeenGamer, CBR, The A.V. Club, Pure Xbox and KitGuru (3 November 2026); the studio update of 17 July 2026 as reported by PCGamesN, Shacknews and Prima Games; and the February 2026 interview as reported by Pure Xbox, PC Gamer and Insider Gaming. The Verge's report was read through the outlets that relay it, not at the original. Not from a playthrough: nobody outside Bethesda and Microsoft has played it, and reports are labelled as reports. Still to confirm in-game.
