Merlin Trials

🍃 Each Merlin Trial is unlocked by burning a Mallowsweet leaf at the Merlin plinth, then solving the puzzle nearby. The rows below are numbered tick-boxes, and their region headings do not match the game's split, which is: Hogwarts Valley 16, Feldcroft Region 16, South Hogwarts Region 15, Poidsear Coast 10, five each in North Hogwarts Region, Hogsmeade Valley, Manor Cape, Clagmar Coast and Cragcroftshire, four each in North Ford Bog and Marunweem Lake, three in the Forbidden Forest and two in South Sea Bog. Use your in-game map (Merlin Trial filter) to pinpoint each one. Completing them raises your gear-slot cap.

The 95 are nine puzzles repeated. There are not 95 different riddles here: once you recognise the type, the solution is always the same. These are the nine.

• Light the braziers — three pillars, lit in quick succession. Start with the tallest: it is the slowest to sink back down.
• Collect moths — cast Lumos and walk; the moths follow your wand into the hollow stone blocks.
• Shatter the small orbs — nine spheres on pillars. Basic Cast on all nine.
• Move the small stone balls — Accio the pile; they snap into the platform’s divots on their own.
• The big ball into its socket — Depulso to knock it loose, then Wingardium Leviosa to move it into place. If you cannot see the ball, cast Revelio: it is often up high or tucked behind something.
• Jump the standing stones — climb the first pillar and cross without touching the ground.
• Match the symbols — Flipendo the block on each pillar until its symbol matches the one carved on the pillar.
• Repair the statues — Reparo on all three piles of rubble.
• Blast the stones — five pillars cracked with green light; Confringo or anything like it.
