Announcement & Production Overview
📅 Global Launch on 10 December 2026
Level-5 confirmed the worldwide release date of 10 December 2026 for Nintendo Switch. The title represents the first mainline entry featuring Hershel Layton since 2013's Professor Layton and the Azran Legacy, marking a full return to the beloved duo.
🎩 Reunion One Year After London
The story takes place exactly one year after the emotional parting at the end of Unwound Future. Luke Triton has been living in the United States and has earned a burgeoning reputation as 'Detective Luke'. Confronted with an insoluble mystery in the industrial hub of Steam Bison, he sends a handwritten letter inviting his mentor to America.
⚙️ The Steampunk Metropolis of Steam Bison
Unlike the gaslit Victorian London streets of prior games, Steam Bison is an astonishing technological boomtown powered by ultra-advanced steam engines. New inventions and mechanical wonders shape daily life, presenting novel architectural and mechanical puzzle situations.
🧩 QuizKnock Succeeds Akira Tago
Following the passing of Professor Akira Tago (the psychologist and 'Puzzle Master' behind the original series' puzzles), Level-5 partnered with celebrated Japanese quiz entertainment group QuizKnock, spearheaded by Takushi Izawa, to author every riddle and spatial puzzle.
