WALKTHROUGH: EPILOGUE

Epilogue: Journey's End

Eight stops across Pywel after the credits, and what the sources say about the world, the endings and a second run

Epilogue Overview

Where: Pailune, Hernand, Calphade Castle, Demeniss, Gorthak Ironworks, Delesyia, Fort Musket and Varnia — one visit each.
Quests: Journey's End. Game8 lists it as one quest with eight objectives; PowerPyx and Fextralife count eight short quests under the same name, the first of which is A New Beginning.
Watch for: Nothing the sources flag as missable. VULKK's hidden ending needs all 40 Abyss Challenges on top of the whole story (see section 4).

1. After the Credits

The game does not end when the credits do. Game8's post-game FAQ says the story closes by leaving you free to explore Pywel however you like, and Fextralife says the same in the other order: first the Journey's End quests, then free roam for whatever side content you have left. VULKK picks Kliff up as he regains consciousness after the fall at the end of Chapter 12; Fextralife describes the story's end as the Greymanes taking Pailune back (it spells them "Graymens"). PowerPyx notes that the "Expert Storyteller" trophy unlocks on the first of the epilogue quests, before the other seven are done.

2. Journey's End

A tour of the people who mattered, one region at a time. There is no combat, no choice and, per Game8 and PowerPyx, no reward for any of it. PowerPyx says that after A New Beginning the remaining seven can be done in any order; the order below is Game8's objective list, which PowerPyx's numbering matches.

  • 1

Follow Oongka (PowerPyx: A New Beginning)

In Pailune. Game8 has you leave the house and follow Oongka down to the port, talking as you go; PowerPyx has you meet him in the town centre and walk with him to the docks, where the quest completes on its own. PowerPyx's description of the town: peace has returned and everything is back where it belongs.

  • 2

Speak with Marshal Middler (PowerPyx: Peace in Hernand)

Fast-travel to the City of Hernand and find Barden Middler — PowerPyx puts him on the street on the west side of town, during a festival, and says he has been made a baron.

  • 3

Visit Calphade (PowerPyx: The Unyielding Shields)

Stefan Lanford is at Calphade Castle (PowerPyx places it in northern Hernand; Game8 says the Calphadean Region). PowerPyx's directions: in through the front gate to the throne room, right through a door, up to the top floor, where a cutscene plays in his office. Game8 says he tries to recruit Kliff and Kliff turns him down; PowerPyx says he is preparing training drills to keep Calphade's defences up. The quest shares its name with a Chapter 6 quest; this is the epilogue one.

  • 4

Speak with Countess Azerian (PowerPyx: The Heart of Pywel)

Game8 sends you to the Azerian Manor; PowerPyx describes a villa just north-west of Demeniss city, where Colette Azerian — the woman in the yellow dress in the front yard — walks you back towards the city while she talks about what the region needs. PowerPyx notes the hostile enemies in Demeniss are gone now that Caliburn is defeated.

  • 5

Visit Gorthak Ironworks (PowerPyx: The Enduring Flame)

Valgash is at the marker in central Gorthak (PowerPyx lists it under Delesyia), repairing what the war broke (Game8). PowerPyx adds that he has help from his A.T.A.G. and from Marni.

  • 6

Read the Memory About the Secrets of the Helmet (PowerPyx: Evolving City)

At Delesyia Castle, with the Visione helmet on so the gate lets you in. The memory is played from the helmet itself: PowerPyx's route is to hold left on the d-pad, switch to the armour selection with R1/RB, hover over the Visione Helmet and pick the "Visione" memory under the Delesyia Recollections tab; VULKK says to use the Visione outside the Castle Gate and play the "Visione" memory listed under Delesyia. It is Marni talking about what the helmet really does.

  • 7

Speak with Duke Wells (PowerPyx: The Desert's Edge)

At Fort Musket (PowerPyx: the south of the Crimson Desert region). Approach the soldiers gathered in the courtyard for the cutscene. PowerPyx's description: Duke Wells means to garrison and restore the fort, which the war left exposed.

  • 8

Speak with Sebastian (PowerPyx: New Horizons)

In Varnia (PowerPyx: the northern edge of the Crimson Desert). Walk up to the two men on the tower and the cutscene plays. Game8 says Sebastian is travelling to make maps; PowerPyx calls the meeting a chance reunion with the man who helped Kliff at the very start and mentions a proposed walk across the desert as a pilgrimage of peace. PowerPyx numbers this the 168th and last main mission.

3. What Changes in Pywel

Everything the sources say about the post-story world comes from the eight visits above, so this is the full list. Pailune is at peace and back in order (PowerPyx). Hernand is holding a festival and Middler has a barony (PowerPyx). Demeniss is united and its hostile enemies are gone since Caliburn's defeat (PowerPyx). Gorthak Ironworks is being rebuilt after the war (Game8, PowerPyx). Fort Musket is still exposed and Duke Wells plans to restore it (PowerPyx). Sebastian is out mapping the land (Game8). Orbian, the flying fortress, was destroyed in Chapter 11 (PowerPyx, VULKK). Beyond that — new enemies, new activities, shops or prices, anything systemic — none of the sources we read describes a change, so this page does not claim one.

4. The Endings

What the sources establish is narrower than a claim of two endings decided by your choices, and this page sticks to what they establish. VULKK is the only one of our sources that describes a second ending at all: a hidden ending, unlocked by finishing every main quest — the Prologue, all twelve chapters and the Epilogue — and completing all 40 Abyss Challenges, which it says takes you through every region on the ground and most of the Abyss. What it unlocks, in VULKK's words, is extra lore at the Axiom Archive's library about Pywel, the Abyss and Kliff's origins; VULKK calls it the true final piece of the main story and mentions expectations of DLC. Nothing in VULKK's account ties that ending to dialogue choices, and none of the Game8 or PowerPyx pages we read documents ending variations or a choice with an ending-level consequence. So: one standard ending on finishing The Void, and one hidden ending gated by completion, not choices. We could not verify any choice-based ending, and we do not describe what either ending shows.

5. New Game Plus

At release there was none. Game8's FAQ and Fextralife both say the game shipped without a New Game Plus and simply left the world open once the story was done, and Game8's page adds that Pearl Abyss had not confirmed one for a later patch. Fextralife's page is the one that records what came afterwards: the update it calls Version 2.000 (Enhanced Edition) added what it describes as a semi-save mechanic rather than a full New Game Plus — once all main quests are complete, a new game can carry over Abyss Links and other in-game currency from the existing save. Those two are the only things Fextralife lists as carrying over; it does not list stats, skills or equipment, and it notes that a plain replay starts without the items and skills of the previous run. Pearl Abyss's own patch notes give the version as 2.00.00 (25 August 2026), and AllThings.how's write-up of that update (27 August) states the exclusion outright: character stats, learned skills and equipment stay behind in the old save, so combat progression starts again from the beginning. Patch 2.03.00 (18 September) added a reward for doing it — a new game started from an existing save now hands over 1,000-plus silver as stackable pouches. What that leaves unverified is only whether anything beyond Abyss Links, currency and that silver crosses over; no source we read says it does.

6. Epilogue Completion

✅ Before Leaving Pywel...

Cross-checked

Cross-checked on 21 September 2026 against Game8's walkthrough page for Journey's End and its New Game Plus FAQ, PowerPyx's eight epilogue pages (A New Beginning through New Horizons), VULKK's main-story guide and its hidden-ending article, and Fextralife's New Game Plus page, which agree on the eight people and places, on there being no rewards, and on the world staying open afterwards. They disagree on granularity — Game8 has one quest with eight objectives, PowerPyx and Fextralife eight quests — and on where Stefan Lanford's castle sits (PowerPyx: northern Hernand; Game8: the Calphadean Region). Fextralife spells the Greymanes "Graymens"; this page keeps Game8's spelling. No source we read describes a choice-based ending; only VULKK describes a second ending, and it is gated by the 40 Abyss Challenges. The carry-over comes from Fextralife's New Game Plus page, AllThings.how's article on update 2.00.00 and Pearl Abyss's Steam patch notes for 2.00.00 and 2.03.00, which agree on Abyss Links and currency crossing over and on stats, skills and equipment staying behind. A sixth source, thegameswiki's endgame page, could not be loaded (it answered 429 twice) and contributed nothing here. Not from a playthrough: nobody here has played it, and what the sources do not describe is not on this page.
