CHAPTER 8 WALKTHROUGH

Beyond Hope

The last chapter: the world open for one more lap, then the Crystal Tower, its invisible bridges, and a final teleport there is no coming back from

Chapter Overview

The chapter: chapter 8, Beyond Hope, the last one. Its single objective is to go to the top of the Crystal Tower.
The route: the world map, with everything open, and then the Crystal Tower.
The bosses: an event fight against Dante, Behemoth (Light and Wind), and past the point of no return a boss weak to Dark and the final boss, weak to Light in its first part.
Optional: Rain's side quest A New Leaf; Sephiroth in Whirlpool Hollow; the Cave Masters Titanoraidos and Malboro Menace; the Dragon's Maw dungeon; the Chamber of Arms; the colosseum's next league.
Trophy: Aspiration's End, for clearing the chapter. No trophy in the game is missable.
Watch for: the last teleport in the tower is the point of no return. After the credits, the clear save puts you back in the world before the final boss.

1. Before the Tower

The chapter opens on the airship with the whole world open. The Crystal Tower is the way forward; going in early is fine, and the optional fights can wait until you are stronger.

  • 1

    A New Leaf

Rain's substory, from Raegen on the airship deck. PowerPyx places it in chapter 8; the FF Resonance Wiki and Game8 list it with chapter 7. Talk to the king of Grandshelt, then go to Mitra, then find the flower at the end of Waterfall Way, and return to Raegen on the deck. Reward: the Knight's Medallion and a permanent stat bonus for Rain.

  • 2

    The last radar upgrade

Merchant ships keep turning up with rare stock: a Magicite Cryst for 50,000 gil, the Ancient Cloak for 40,000, and the High-Power Generator for 60,000. Give the generator to Lid for the last radar upgrade, which shows a Magicite Cryst in the open ocean south-east of Mysidia, the Dark Rosary straight north of the Crystal Tower, the Evil Eye south-west of Pharm and the Mastery Pendant north of the Grandshelt desert.

2. Optional: the Hardest Fights

None of this is needed to finish the story, and all of it is still there after the credits. Take it in any order.

  • 1

    Sephiroth

Sephiroth waits in Whirlpool Hollow, open since chapter 5; beating him earns his Vision. He counters if you attack while his Masamune in Waiting buff is up. He goes immune before One Winged Angel, and again before he drops the whole party to 1 HP; after that you have a few turns before he casts Meteor. Reraise, set up early, answers it. Scanning him with Mechamog gives him a weakness you can use. The Vision tracker has all twenty-six.

  • 2

    Titanoraidos and Malboro Menace

    • Titanoraidos — level 60, weak to Ice, in its cave in Pharm. A great deal of HP, and Disaster can Doom your party members.
    • Malboro Menace — level 60, weak to Fire, in its cave in Pharm. It opens with Bad Breath; once you recover, keep it staggered.

Both are Cave Masters; the Cave Masters tracker has all fifteen.

  • 3

    Dragon's Maw

An optional dungeon on the southern tip of Pharm, with random battles you cannot run from. Its bosses are Intangir, weak to Light, Earth and Dark, which casts Meteor if you hit it while it sleeps, and a Rogue Magitek Weapon, weak to Water and Lightning. Its chests hold Excalibur, Masamune and the Sniper's Eye, among others, and at the end it reaches the tiny island with the Megalixir. That island is where Metal Gigantuars appear: defeating one earns the trophy Priceless Experience, and it is the best place in the game to level up and master your Visions.

  • 4

The Chamber of Arms and the colosseum

At the Chamber of Arms each "Ancient" item opens a trial: a level-50 enemy with two stages that turns the item into one of the Twelve Legendary Arms, and later a level-75 rematch for an upgraded version. The last Ancient item, the Ancient Katana, is in the Crystal Tower. The Legendary Arms tracker lists where each Ancient item is. In Grandshelt, the colosseum's Gladiator League is open; its last fight can end with a Last Breath attack, so set up Reraise.

3. The Crystal Tower and Behemoth

The objective: go to the top of the tower. For a final dungeon it is quite linear, with side branches that hold some of the game's best gear.

  • 1

    The lower floors

Early on are two Tablet Shards, the Pilebunker, two Chef's Knives, and Apocalypse down the northern ramp. A Pearly Pot wants an Elixir rather than a fight. A portal leads to an event fight against Dante, an ordinary enemy. At the staircases, the left one leads to Laevateinn and a Megalixir; at the top of the right one, a hidden path keeps climbing to another Pearly Pot, which also wants an Elixir. The Ancient Katana is near the save point. Leave by the west for a scene.

  • 2

    Boss: Behemoth

Behemoth is weak to Light and Wind, but you cannot hurt it until your allies' support attacks land; wait for them, then strike. Meanwhile you can still wear down its stagger gauge, so it is stunned as soon as the barrier drops. KeenGamer calls this fight Dark Bahamut; RPG Site, the FF Resonance Wiki and Game8 call it Behemoth.

    • Weak to: Light and Wind.
    • Bring: Light and Wind skills, and patience for the support attacks.

4. The Invisible Bridges

Past Behemoth the way goes over invisible bridges between platforms, with optional branches.

  • 1

    The branches

    • Book of Eibon — east from the third platform.
    • Tablet Shard — west at the next bridge fork; it is the last of the 99.
    • Hastur Long Barrel — following the path east.
    • Dragon Whisker — off the next bridge. RPG Site's route is north, west, then south; the FF Resonance Wiki's is 17 tiles west, 3 south, then 6 east.
  • 2

    The last save point

After a cutscene on the main path, leave by the east for another. Near the last save point are the Faerie Bow and a Magicite Cryst.

5. The Point of No Return and the Final Bosses

The last teleport is the point of no return; the game asks whether you are ready before it takes you. Save, heal, and finish anything you still want first. Put a Vision with a Dark skill on Rain before you go: Cecil, Sephiroth or Victoria, or Shantotto after her first awakening. After the final boss, Rain faces the boss from past the teleport once more, alone, and he has no Dark skill of his own; you have to win to carry on.

  • 1

    The first boss

Right past the teleport is a boss weak to Dark. It calls in an ally; take that one down first.

    • Weak to: Dark.
    • Bring: Dark skills.
  • 2

    The final boss

Climb the spiral, past one more save point, to the final boss. Its first part is weak to Light. Bring down its left hand with Wind first, since it can bring the right hand back, then its right hand with Earth, and only then the head. Its second part has several parts you can target; check each one's weakness before you commit. For this fight only, every hero has Last Resonance, a strong skill best kept for finishing off a weakened enemy or for a character close to falling.

    • Weak to: Light (first part).
    • Bring: Light skills, and a healer.

6. After the Credits and Trophies

Finishing the game does not close it.

  • 1

The clear save and Ultima Weapon

After the credits you can load a clear save, which puts you back in the world before the final boss with everything optional still there. On reloading it, a short scene on the airship tells of a new presence in Ardra Crater, in the south-east of the map: Ultima Weapon, the postgame fight, behind the trophy My Name Is Ultima….

  • 2

    The trophies of chapter 8

Clearing the chapter, and with it the story, earns Aspiration's End. The optional side of the chapter feeds Priceless Experience (a Metal Gigantuar) and the Legendary Arms trophies. No trophy in the game is missable; the trophy tracker has the full list.

Cross-checked

Cross-checked on 23 October 2026, the day after release, against RPG Site's and the FF Resonance Wiki's chapter 8 walkthroughs, the wiki's quest database, PowerPyx's trophy roadmap and Vision and party-member guides, Game8's Vision list, and KeenGamer's walkthrough, which follows RPG Site's route step by step and so is not counted as a separate source; and on 27 October against Game8's chapter 7 and 8 walkthroughs. RPG Site, the wiki and Game8: the chapter's name, Behemoth's and the two last bosses' weaknesses, the final boss having several parts, and the point of no return; with PowerPyx too, the Ancient Katana in the Crystal Tower. Sephiroth in Whirlpool Hollow: RPG Site, PowerPyx and Game8. On fewer than three sources: the single objective, the ally called in by the boss past the teleport, and the final fight's targets and its special skill: Game8 and the wiki. The order of the targets, the last duel and the Visions for it: the wiki alone. Wearing down Behemoth's stagger gauge: Game8 alone. The Crystal Tower's chests and Pearly Pots, and A New Leaf's steps and reward: RPG Site and the wiki. The chapter of A New Leaf: as noted above, with RPG Site meeting it in chapter 8. Sephiroth open since chapter 5: PowerPyx and Game8, with RPG Site for the fight here. Titanoraidos's and Malboro Menace's levels: PowerPyx and Game8; their weaknesses: RPG Site and the wiki. Dragon's Maw on the southern tip of Pharm with battles you cannot run from, the Metal Gigantuar and Priceless Experience: RPG Site and PowerPyx. The Chamber of Arms' level-50 and level-75 trials: RPG Site and PowerPyx. The clear save: RPG Site and the wiki. Ultima Weapon after the clear save: RPG Site, PowerPyx and the wiki, with Ardra Crater named by PowerPyx and the wiki. The trophies' names, and that no trophy is missable: PowerPyx. The merchant ships and the radar, Sephiroth's moves and the answers to them, the two Cave Masters' attacks, running from battles in Dragon's Maw, its bosses and chests, the best place to level, the colosseum's league, Dante, the staircases and the Behemoth fight's support attacks, the bridge branches and the last Tablet Shard: RPG Site alone. The spiral and its save point: RPG Site and Game8. Not from a playthrough: nobody here has played it, and what the sources do not describe is not on this page.
