What We Know
The HD-2D Brave Exvius adaptation, four weeks out: what Square Enix has stated, what the hands-on previews and the public demo actually showed, and the questions nobody has answered yet.
GuideStory & Setting
The world, the three leads, the antagonist and the Brave Exvius connection — premise only, because that is all that has been shown.
GuideGameplay
The turn-based system as Square Enix described it and as six hands-on writers played it: the timeline, the stagger gauge, Visions as equipment, Espers, Limit Bursts, and the content outside the story.
GuideEditions
Four ways to buy it, what each one adds, where the pre-order and early purchase items land in game, and the subscription services it is not on.
GuidePlatforms
Square Enix's published PC requirements and file sizes, and the only hardware comparison anyone has been able to make: the free demo, measured by eye, not by Square Enix.
GuideFAQ
Is it mainline? Is there gacha? Do you need to know Brave Exvius? Does the demo save carry over? Answered from the sources, or marked unanswered.
GuideRelease Timeline
Every dated beat of the campaign so far, the demo, and what Square Enix has said about life after launch: not much, deliberately.
About this guide
Final Fantasy Resonance arrives on 22 October 2026 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, Switch 2 and PC. It is not a numbered Final Fantasy: Square Enix and LANCARSE are adapting Lapis, the first story arc of the mobile game Brave Exvius, and it is the first Final Fantasy built in the HD-2D style. Combat is turn-based and explicitly not ATB — a visible turn timeline, stagger gauges fed by elemental weaknesses, Espers, Limit Bursts and 26 Visions worn as equipment. A free demo has been out since 3 September. This is a pre-release guide: everything on it is something Square Enix, the storefronts or a hands-on preview has actually shown, and where nothing has been shown the page says so. Nobody here has played the full game.
