The one thing to understand first
Forever is not an expansion you buy. Blizzard's wording is that the revamped world and the great majority of the new content are included with an existing World of Warcraft subscription at no extra cost. The packs exist for one gate — the Skyborne race and Zephras Isle, its starting zone — plus cosmetics, game time and beta access. If you do not care about playing a Skyborne elf, you can skip all three and lose nothing that affects levelling, dungeons or raids.
The three packs
| Pack | Price | What it adds |
|---|---|---|
| Skyborne Heroic Pack | $29.99 | Skyborne race and Zephras Isle, a transmog set, the Cerulean Prideclaw mount, the Windwell toy, player-housing items, one Invite-A-Friend code and Early Name Reservation (27 October to 3 November). No beta, no game time. |
| Skyborne Epic Pack | $59.99 | Everything in Heroic, plus 30 days of game time, more transmog and mount options, the original Collector's Edition pets, three Invite-A-Friend codes in total and guaranteed beta access while it lasts (it closes on 23 October). |
| Warcraft Forever Collection | $79.99 | Everything in Epic, plus Warcraft III: Reforged with the Forsaken Kingdom campaign; the same three codes. On sale only until 11 January 2027. |
| Collector's Edition | $150 | Physical: art prints, a 13-inch dwarf hunter and bear statue, a Zephras Isle mousepad, pins and a journal, with all the Collection's digital items. Sold out at first; Blizzard restocked English copies on 24 September in North America, the UK, Europe, Australia and New Zealand, one per household on its Gear Store, with those orders expected to ship by February 2027 — after launch. |
Which one, if any
You want to play a Skyborne
Heroic is the cheapest way in. The race is account-wide in every report; Blizzard has not stated whether the unlock is per region.
You wanted the beta
Too late to be a reason: the beta closed on 23 October. Epic and the Collection included it; Heroic never did.
You have not played Warcraft III: Reforged
The Collection's $20 over Epic buys Reforged and the Forsaken Kingdom campaign — which is the story Forever's timeline picks up from. That is the only reason to go past Epic.
You want none of that
Subscribe as usual and play on 4 November. That is the intended path, not a downgrade.
Still to verify
Cross-checked on 15 September 2026 against Blizzard Watch's pricing breakdown, MMORPG.com and Warcraft Tavern's editions guide, and re-checked on 2 October 2026 against Blizzard's own pre-purchase article and its Collector's Edition post, updated on 24 September, and on 22 October 2026 against Blizzard’s forum notice moving the beta’s end to 23 October, Eurogamer and PC Gamer. Prices are the US ones; European prices reported at €29.99, €59.99 and €79.99. What is still unverified has to be confirmed in-game. Still to confirm in-game.
