1. Down through the Catacombs
With the Gate to the Catacombs open, the objective becomes stopping Dracula's resurrection. The Catacombs of Paris are a long descent: saw blades, spike pits and grapple points on the way down, and Death waiting at the bottom.
- Catacomb Entrance Break the fragile floor to drop down.
- Path of the Abyss Rotating saw blades and spike pits.
- Quarry Elevator Activate the Mirror of Life here.
- Crossroads of the Dead Break the damaged wall on the left to reach the Charnel Galleries.
- Charnel Galleries Hit the wall switch to raise the portcullis. The Death Mark Clue is here.
- Jaws of Limbo One guide's route passes through the De Rais Necropolis on the way.
- Realm of Old Night Swing across on the hanging grapple points.
- Stairway to Hell Stand on the pedestal and enter the glowing red portal. That route reaches it through the Condemned Mineshaft.
- The ritual chamber A floor switch, an elevator and the lower shafts lead down to the chamber where Death stands before a huge portal.
This order is one guide's, and the rooms another guide's video walks through follow the same path. Save at the Mirror of Life before the ritual chamber.
2. Clue and weapons on the way
1 Clue, 2 weapons
- Clue Death Mark Charnel Galleries, for The Shadow. It tells you to follow the marks on the walls; you will not finish The Shadow in this chapter.
- Weapon Pair of Longswords Crossroads of the Dead. One guide adds that you get in through a breakable wall in the Chamber of Whispers, next to the lever.
- Weapon Whip In a chest in the Hall of the Fallen Angels, on the way down to Death.
Two of the guides put the Death Mark in the Charnel Galleries; a third lists it only as "Catacombs of Paris". The two weapons and their rooms are in three of the guides' weapon lists.
3. Story fight: Death
You are meant to lose this one. Every guide that covers it says so: the fight ends in a cutscene, and Death's card is not absorbed here. You face him again, for real, much later in Notre-Dame. Two of the guides call this arena the Altar of Bones.
- One guide reports that standing close to him at the start gets you touched by one skeletal finger, which takes nearly all your health, and then a scythe swing behind you ends it.
- Another adds that he cannot be beaten here even if you drain his health to zero; the first was not yet sure either way.
- A third guide's advice is to save at the Mirror of Life first, dodge, and hit him when the arena gives you an opening.
After the cutscene the objective changes to reaching Dracula's Castle.
4. Through the Justice District
- Ferryman's Wharf Leave the underground ruins north-west to the Ferryman and choose Paris Streets.
- Justice District Sewers From the pier, work up through the sewers.
- Court of Justice Climb the vertical shaft with the Arcane Whip, cross the spiked walkways and hit the floor switch to raise the gate.
- Palace of Justice Beat the waves of enemies. Later Look at the scales in the Tree of Justice chamber, but move on for now.
- Docks Follow them on to the Gate to the Stone Bridge.
- Gate to the Stone Bridge Activate the Mirror of Life and open the iron gate.
- Notre-Dame Bridge Swing between the broken sections with the Arcane Whip, then pull the lever in the wooden gatehouse.
Two Clues for later
2 Clues
- Clue Hospital Relic Bishop's Office, for The Miser. Later It points to one of the three Eyes you need in Dracula's Castle.
- Clue Balancing the Scales of Justice Palace of Justice, for The Judge. Later It belongs to the scales you leave for now.
The route is one guide's. Two of the guides place the two Clues, and a third lists both under Paris Streets. The Mirrors of Life at the Quarry Elevator and the Gate to the Stone Bridge are in three of the guides.
5. Notre-Dame Bridge and Isaac
Past the Notre-Dame Bridge, at the entrance to the castle's Main Hall, Isaac attacks and the fight starts at once. One guide names the spot the Castle Drawbridge. Another warns that the bridge is a long run of Gargoyles, Mermen and Spear Knights, so keep your Potions, and points to Meat hidden right above the door that leads to Isaac.
- Keep moving and hit him after his combos end; one guide suggests spells when he is too far away for safe close attacks.
- Another guide: his spear has a very long reach. When he leaps and throws it, it spins three times and turns towards you each time before it returns to him. His attacks are clearly telegraphed, so it is a good fight for parrying with Holy Light.
This is a story fight, not where you take his card. Two of the guides say the Isaac you beat here is an illusion; one of them adds that his true body waits in the Clock Tower. Cross what is left of the bridge and go into Dracula's Castle.
6. Part 4 Completion
Still to verify
Fewer than three of the guides give these so far. Bastard Sword: in a chest in the Justice District Sewers (IGN and Sportskeeda; GamerGuides lists it without naming the room). Relics: Specter's Whisper in a secret tunnel at the bottom of the Catacomb Entrance (IGN and Map Genie); Mourning Bead in a chest in the Path of the Abyss, Necro Charm in a chest in the Jaws of Limbo and Ebony Claw in a chest in the Throat of Hell (IGN only). Heart Fragments: a Brave one in the Catacomb Entrance and a Wise one in the Chamber of Whispers, behind a breakable wall by a statue (IGN and Map Genie); a Brave one in the Court of Justice (IGN and Map Genie); a Wise one in the Throat of Hell (IGN only); a Brave one in the Blood Pits (Map Genie only). Map Genie names the Catacombs wharf the Collapsed Path of Orpheus, where IGN's video makes its first fast travel. Only KeenGamer says the bridge collapses after Isaac and Leon saves Rose, and only Map Genie says the scales of justice ask for at least half of the Wise and Brave Heart Fragments in Paris. Elsewhere on this page, where one or two guides give a detail: IGN's video and Fextralife place the Death Mark and the two Clues on the way to the castle, which Map Genie lists only by area. Only GamerGuides says the Pair of Longswords room is entered through a breakable wall in the Chamber of Whispers. At the Death fight, Fextralife and Map Genie call the arena the Altar of Bones; the touch of the skeletal finger is from Rock Paper Shotgun; Map Genie says he cannot be beaten here even at zero health, where Rock Paper Shotgun was not yet sure; and the advice to save first is KeenGamer's. At Isaac, Fextralife names the spot the Castle Drawbridge; the warning about the bridge's enemies, the Meat above the door and the spinning spear are Rock Paper Shotgun's, and the advice to use spells at range is KeenGamer's. KeenGamer and Fextralife call this Isaac an illusion, and only Fextralife says his true body waits in the Clock Tower.
Cross-checked
Cross-checked on 16 October 2026 against KeenGamer's complete walkthrough, the descriptions of IGN's video walkthroughs "Stop the Resurrection" and "Reach Dracula's Castle", IGN's weapons list, Rock Paper Shotgun's boss guide, Fextralife's The Shadow, The Miser, The Judge, Bosses and Mirror of Life pages, Sportskeeda's and GamerGuides' weapon lists and Map Genie's checklist. IGN and Rock Paper Shotgun share an owner but have different writers, so they count as two. The Death story fight, Isaac's fight at the Main Hall, the two weapons and the two Mirrors of Life are in at least three of them; the Clues are in two each, plus Map Genie by area; the route through the rooms is KeenGamer's, with IGN's videos passing the same rooms. Not from a playthrough: nobody here has played it, and what the sources do not describe is not on this page.
