Where: Railyard Street Station in the Evacuation Zone, the Field Office, the CFD Platform at the Sinkhole, and later an island in the Underpass.
Quests: the rest of the Jesse Sightings (The Incursion Fault is in Part 2, because Plan of Attack needs Shift), and the sixth main mission, Enemy of My Enemy.
Watch for: The Subway Fault gives Reach, and the Underpass, where the next main mission goes, cannot be crossed without it, so do it before Recursions and Iterations. The Underpass Fault only opens once that mission has taken you into the Underpass; it is here because it closes the Jesse Sightings, and The House in Distress will not finish without it. Enemy of My Enemy (bronze, "Help with the CFD") pops at the end of the mission of the same name. Sibling Reunion (bronze, "Complete all Fault Rituals") comes later, during The House in Distress.
1. Jesse Sightings: The Subway Fault
Starts on its own when you go near the Fault's entrance at Railyard Street Station, in the northeast of the Evacuation Zone. Rewards: a Living Shard and Reach, which grapples Dylan to Reach Points in the world (L3).

Investigate the Subway in the Evacuation Zone
A vision of Jesse appears as you cross the Mold-covered car park toward the station. Inside, trains still run through the tunnels: stand at the side of the track to let them pass. Mold enemies come in several groups along the way. Where a Patterned rail track runs up the wall, Shift keeps you on the altered surfaces across the gap.

2
Enter the Fault, find Jesse, and the ritual
Push through the Mold tunnels to the TV and enter the Fault, then find Jesse and talk to her. The ritual teaches Reach; on the way back out you use it to grapple from point to point.
2. Collectibles That Shift and Reach Open
With both traversal abilities, the ones held back in Parts 1 and 2 are in reach.

Back through the first four zones
- Downtown, Dylan's Sketchbook (needs Reach). The Rooftop Oasis in the northwest corner, at the Dense Patterning spot: set the three swans by the table and the three plants at the spots further away.
- Downtown, Freeze Frame Camera (needs Shift and Ground Slam). On a rooftop behind an ability barrier: come at it from the northwest, using Shift to get onto the roof.
- Central, Freeze Frame Camera (needs Reach). On a rooftop behind an open door: let it spot you, reactivate it from below, then come at it up the building's stairs.
- West Incursion Zone, Dylan's Sketchbook "Halloween Party" (needs Reach). On the rooftops right after the checkpoint: small pumpkin front left, ghost back left, big pumpkins back right, skeleton front right.
- West Incursion Zone, Freeze Frame Camera (needs Shift and Reach). On a sideways building in the far northwest corner: drop onto it from the roof so it does not see you.
- Evacuation Zone, Dog (needs Shift). On a rooftop in the north of the zone: use Shift to reach the upside-down roof above the dog.
The Park is optional and open any time after you have Shift; it and the zones of the second half of the story are not on this page.
3. Enemy of My Enemy
The sixth main mission of Contain the Crisis, starting at the Field Office. It opens once Power Lines and Into the Sinkhole are done and both the Central and the West Incursion Zone Resonants are dead. The CFD is nearly ready and the tremors at the Evac Site keep getting worse. Reward: the Enemy of My Enemy trophy.

1
Meet Pope, then Arish at the CFD Platform
Talk to Pope in the Field Office, then travel to the CFD Platform at the Sinkhole in the Evacuation Zone and report to Arish.
-
2
Reach the Front and Defend the CFD, then the Blockade
Hiss come in waves; clear each. After the first group you are thrown further down the road, away from the CFD, and have to run back to it fighting what appears on the way. Then fall back to the CFD Platform.
-
3
Activate the CFD
On the platform, go to the back corner and interact with the switch.
-
4
Follow the CFD and Use the Switch
After the scene you are somewhere new. Follow the CFD down the tunnel as it forms in front of you, using Shift to change walls when the gravity turns. In a large square of streets, destroy the three Hiss orbs on the walls. The switch at the end of the route does not do what you hope; the objective changes, and you finish the mission by breaking the CFD apart with melee attacks. The trophy pops, and next is Recursions and Iterations, in Part 4.
4. Jesse Sightings: The Underpass Fault
The last of the Jesse Sightings, and the only one you cannot do yet: it opens when Recursions and Iterations takes you into the Underpass. A vision of Jesse leads to an island where the Patterned orange pipes converge, on the west side of the Underpass. It needs Reach. Reward: a Living Shard; no new ability. Do it before you try to finish The House in Distress, which needs every Fault ritual done.
-
1
The Island of Orange Pipes
Fast travel to The Spire and grapple west with Reach across the gaps that jumps and Elevate cannot clear. Activate the Fault fast travel door before you jump up to the island's main platform. Kill the group of Mold enemies on top, then go round to the back, the west side, where a gap leads into the island; more Mold inside. The TV that takes you into the Fault is below the level of the platform.
-
2
Inside: the children of light, and the ritual
Find Jesse and talk to her. The puzzle is made of figures projected as light on the walls: guide the light-projected children, leading their shadows to the places marked for them, until young Dylan and Jesse are back together. Then help Jesse complete the ritual. That closes the Jesse Sightings.
5. Part 3 Completion
✅ Before Recursions and Iterations...
Cross-checked
Cross-checked on 2 October 2026 against the guides of PowerPyx, KeenGamer and AllThings.how. Where they differ: KeenGamer lists Shift as a requirement of the Subway Fault, while PowerPyx calls it optional there, for running the walls; and the inside of the Underpass Fault is described only in outline by all three, so the children puzzle is given at that level. Not from a playthrough: nobody here has played it, and what the sources do not describe is not on this page.
