- Collectibles

Difficulties
| Difficulty | What changes |
|---|---|
| Amateur | The easiest. One guide says it performs the quick-time events for you. |
| Normal | The second of the four original settings. |
| Veteran | Harder again. One guide lists what rises with difficulty: enemies attack more often, move faster, aim better and grab you sooner. |
| Professional | Available from the start, the guides agree. Clearing every chapter on it unlocks all four difficulty trophies at once. |
| No Hope | Added by the December 2012 title update, for every campaign. Capcom's manual says: no skills at all, health is not refilled when you continue, and skill points count double. Co-op only with players on No Hope. |
What the campaigns unlock
- Ada's campaign: at launch it opened only after Leon's, Chris's and Jake's campaigns were finished. The December 2012 title update unlocked it from the start and added a co-op partner, the Agent, who fights but cannot open doors, pick up key items or use switches.
- Clearing all four campaigns, Ada's included, puts the eight infinite ammo skills on sale in the skill shop.
- Chapter Select replays any chapter you have finished. A later title update, dated January 2013 by one guide, added Stage Select, which starts from a stage within a cleared chapter.
- New Game+: one guide says you can carry your weapons into a new run, but only the character who found them keeps them; skills apply to every character.
Serpent Emblems
- 80 blue serpent medallions, 20 in each campaign and 4 in every chapter. You shoot them or hit them with a melee attack. In co-op, one trophy guide says each player has to hit the emblem to collect it.
- Every emblem unlocks a file, in order. Each campaign also has 10 figures: one for each chapter's four emblems, one for the first, second, third and fourth emblem of all five chapters, and one for all 20. That makes 40 figures in all. They're ACTION Figures! asks for any 3.
- A few emblems can only be reached by one partner. The guides agree on one only Piers can reach in Chris's Chapter 2 and one only Sherry can reach in Jake's Chapter 4.
- Others are disputed. The PSNProfiles trophy guide says only Piers can take one in Chris's Chapter 4 and only Sherry one in Jake's Chapter 1; IGN's emblem list says Chris can hit the first with the jet's guns and Jake can get the second with a flash grenade. IGN's list marks the first emblem of Chris's Chapter 5 as Chris only, but the PSNProfiles guide says Piers can shoot it through the floor grating.
- Two trophy guides say an emblem counts the moment you hit it: you can quit to the menu without reaching a checkpoint. Progress is under Special Features, Collections.
- One guide notes that emblems never sit in areas where campaigns cross over.
The Mercenaries
- Kill as many enemies as you can before time runs out, alone, in online duo, or split-screen. The stage ends when time is up or when you kill 150 enemies; the time left becomes bonus points.
- Extra time comes from time bonus objects (30 to 90 seconds), melee kills (+5), finishing blows (+7) and counter kills (+10). Combos raise your score, and secret enemies worth many points appear at random.
- The Mercenaries has its own skill list; campaign skills do not apply there.
- Starting characters are Leon, Chris and Jake. Helena, Piers and Sherry unlock with a B rank or better on Urban Chaos, Steel Beast and Mining the Depths. Ada unlocks by finishing her campaign. An A rank on any stage unlocks alternate costumes, and Carla unlocks once you have every other character and costume. These come from two guides.
- Two guides say clearing Chris's campaign unlocks the Steel Beast stage and clearing Jake's unlocks Mining the Depths.
- PC only: The Mercenaries No Mercy, with twice as many enemies. Two sources say Left 4 Dead 2 characters were added to it; one dates that free update to April 2013.
