One game, three machines

💡
Shattered Memories came out on Wii first, in North America. The PlayStation 2 version followed in January 2010; when the PSP version came out there is disputed (see the table). Europe and Japan got all three in early 2010. The game is the same story on each, built around running, hiding and the psych profile, with no weapons and no combat anywhere. Our sources don't cover the PS2 and PSP controls in enough detail to describe them here.

Release dates

VersionDate
Wii, North America8 December 2009
PlayStation 2, North America19 January 2010
PSP, North AmericaPush Square, Metacritic and the Silent Hill Wiki on Fandom say 19 January 2010. Silent Hill Memories' versions page says 8 December 2009, the same day as the Wii version.
Europe (Wii, PS2 and PSP)Silent Hill Memories, Push Square and Nintendo Life give 26 February 2010. EliteGuías gives 25 February 2010. The Silent Hill Wiki on Fandom says February 2010 in its summary box but 4 March 2010 for PAL countries in its text.
Japan (Wii, PS2 and PSP)25 March 2010
PSP version on PlayStation Network, Europe28 April 2014 (Konami; a second source gives April 2014)

About those dates

  • For the PS2, only one source gives a day in Europe, and two in Japan. In Europe the Wii and PSP day comes from two sources each; in Japan it is confirmed by three.
  • The PlayStation Network date comes from two sources: Konami's UK blog, which announced the release on 28 April 2014 at £7.99 or €9.95, and a fan wiki, which gives April 2014.
  • No source we read gives a North American PlayStation Network release, so this page doesn't claim one.

The PS Vita mix-up

⚠️
On 17 April 2014 Konami announced Silent Hill: Origins and Shattered Memories for PlayStation Network, and the news was reported as a PS Vita release. Konami's UK blog post about the release says both games are not compatible with PS Vita and apologises. A press report on 30 April 2014 said the Vita announcement had been a mistake. If you want to play the download, it is the PSP version.

Budget editions

  • One guide lists two budget re-releases of the PSP version: a PSP Essentials edition in Europe on 16 January 2012, and a Best Selection edition in Japan on 15 July 2010 at ¥1,980.
  • No other source we read mentions budget editions, so treat these dates as one guide's word.

Length and replays

  • Two reviews put a first run at about five or six hours.
  • Both say the multiple endings give you a reason to play again: change your answers to Dr. K, or look at different things, and the town, the people and the ending change with you.
  • The UFO ending exists only on a replay from a cleared save. The Endings page has the steps.

Cross-checked

Cross-checked on 24 October 2026 against the versions page of Silent Hill Memories, Push Square's PS2 and PSP pages, Metacritic (the Wii page and archived PS2 and PSP pages), IGN's game page and review, GameSpot's game page, Nintendo Life's game page and review, Eurogamer's review, EliteGuías, the Silent Hill Wiki on Fandom, Konami's UK blog post of 28 April 2014 and Hardcore Gamer's report of 30 April 2014. The Wii date is backed by Silent Hill Memories, Metacritic, IGN, GameSpot and Nintendo Life; the PS2 date by Silent Hill Memories, Metacritic and Fandom; Japan by Silent Hill Memories, Push Square and Nintendo Life. The budget editions are Silent Hill Memories alone. The five-to-six-hour length and the replay value are the IGN and Nintendo Life reviews. No weapons and no combat: IGN's review and guide wiki, Nintendo Life, Eurogamer and Fandom. Not from a playthrough: nobody here has played it.
