What We Know

Grand Theft Auto VI releases on 19 November 2026. Everything on this page comes from Rockstar's own announcements and trailers. Leaks and datamines are deliberately left out: they are frequently wrong, and a guide that repeats them is worse than one that says nothing.

Confirmed

📅 Release date
19 November 2026, on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. No PC version has been dated.
🗺️ The setting
The state of Leonida, Rockstar's modern Florida, with Vice City as its largest city.
🎭 Two protagonists
Lucia Caminos and Jason Duval, a criminal couple. Lucia is the first female lead in a mainline GTA.
🔀 One shared story
You switch between the pair rather than following separate arcs; many missions need them working together.

How the two protagonists work

  • Lucia Caminos and Jason Duval are a couple, not two strangers sharing a city. Rockstar has framed them as a Bonnie-and-Clyde pair.
  • You switch between them, the way GTA V let you switch between Michael, Franklin and Trevor — but where GTA V gave each lead his own arc, here both share one story.
  • Many missions are built for the pair working together, so the switch is a tool inside a mission rather than only a way to change chapters.
  • Lucia is the first female lead in a mainline Grand Theft Auto. She is introduced coming out of prison; Jason is introduced as someone already working for drug runners in the Keys.
  • What that means moment to moment — whether you switch freely, whether one can be left behind, how it works in a firefight — has not been shown.

The shape of the state

  • Leonida is a whole state, not a single city: six named areas run from the island Keys in the south to a national park in the northern interior.
  • Vice City sits on the southeast shoreline and is the largest and most detailed of them.
  • The Grassrivers wetlands introduce airboats, which is the one new vehicle class Rockstar has attached to a specific region.
  • Mount Kalaga National Park is the remote end of the map — lakes, rivers, high ground and wildlife, closer in spirit to Red Dead's wilderness than to a GTA suburb.
  • Port Gellhorn and Ambrosia fill the northwest and the centre: a worn coastal city and a rural, industrial county by Lake Leonida.
  • The full labelled map has not been published, and no official size has been given.

Not confirmed — and treated as unknown here

  • Map size. The widely repeated "1.5–2× GTA V" figure is an estimate from fan measurement, not a Rockstar number.
  • The mission list, its length, or how the story is structured.
  • Collectibles of any kind — nobody outside Rockstar knows what there is to find.
  • Online, its launch state, or whether it ships alongside the campaign.
  • A PC release date.
  • Anything sourced from leaks or datamines. It is left out on purpose.

Why this guide is thin, and when it won't be

GuideVault's rule is that game facts come from someone who has played. Nobody has played this one. So this guide covers only what has been announced, and the trackers hold what Rockstar has named rather than a guess at what the game contains. The day it releases, the checklists get filled in from an actual playthrough — not from a wiki, and not from a trailer.
