Quests: 3 · Act: Act II · The Keepers
Unlocks: Nab-Sack, Ashwinder strongholds
1. In the Shadow of the Estate
The second Sebastian quest moves against Victor Rookwood, the dark wizard running the Ashwinders. Where Ranrok is the campaign's louder threat, Rookwood is the one operating inside wizarding society. It opens at level 15, north of the Feldcroft Floo Flame, where Sebastian is waiting to introduce you to his uncle Solomon Sallow and his cursed sister Anne — goblins and Ashwinders have overrun the family's own estate while pursuing whatever put the curse on her.
2. The Elf, The Nab-Sack and the Loom
It's actually the house-elf Deek, waiting in the Room of Requirement, who hands you the Nab-Sack and walks you through using it on three beasts in order: a Puffskein, a Jobberknoll, then a Mooncalf — the last one only spawns at night, so advance the clock on the map if it's daytime. Finishing nets 260 XP and the Enchanted Loom itself.
Beasts are not a side curiosity: their materials are what upgrade your gear, so the Vivarium feeds directly into how strong you are. The beast list covers all 13 and where to find them. The Loom Deek unlocks alongside it does the actual upgrading: it adds a secondary trait to a piece of clothing, or strengthens a trait already there, and enough small trait upgrades add up to a real jump in combat power.
Rescued beasts need feeding and brushing to keep producing materials. A quick pass through the Vivarium whenever you visit the Room of Requirement is enough.
3. The High Keep
The High Keep is the largest combat set-piece of the act: an assault on Falbarton Castle, an Ashwinder fortress east of Hogsmeade, at level 17 once Professor Garlick's first assignment has taught you Wingardium Leviosa. Natty meets you outside and the pair of you climb the battlements together, mixing Depulso and Accio puzzle solving with waves of poachers guarding the beasts inside — the same mixed-shield-colour enemies where spell-type matching starts to matter.
If you have been ignoring the talent tree, spend your points before going in. Unspent talent points are the most common reason this fight feels harder than it should.
Reaching the roof pays off: the poached hippogriff you free is Highwing, a female you likely met earlier during the Beasts Class with Poppy Sweeting. She becomes your flying mount from here on — and doubles as a ground mount too — while completing the quest also unlocks the Nab-Sack's other use: capturing wild Beast Mounts out in the world.
