WALKTHROUGH · Chapter 4 OF 6

Webbed Hollow

Chapter 4 of 6

A palace of spiders and poison. Ends with the Hundred-Eyed Daoist Master.
Setting: Chapter 4

What to do here

  • A poison-soaked estate of spiders; keep antidotes and watch the Violet Spider.
  • Explore for the secret boss and extra Vessels.
  • Boss: Hundred-Eyed Daoist Master — punishes greed; dodge his laser sweeps and beam. He's half-monk, half-centipede, fights with lightning, and can poison you: apply Sock-Quelling Powder beforehand for the shock resistance and keep Antimiasma Powder in reserve for the poison.
  • The Violet Spider closes out the location. Beating it drops the Spider Leg and Refined Iron Sand.
  • Along the way, Centipede Guai and Buddha's Right Hand are both worth fighting for their own drops — a Spirit and Knot of Voidness from the Centipede Guai, two Cold Iron Leaves and Fine Gold Thread from Buddha's Right Hand.
  • Zhu Bajie turns up twice here: once in the Hut of Immortality, then again outside a cave. The second fight pays out a Jade Moon Rabbit curio on top of more Fine Gold Thread.

How much of this chapter is optional

14 bosses on Game8's list (Fextralife counts 21, Vandal 15), 4 of them required

Which leaves 10 optional. That ratio is the shape of the whole game, and it is the one thing every source agrees on: most of what you can fight, you do not have to. The game-wide totals are another matter — published counts run from 88 to over a hundred depending on whether the guide counts secret bosses, repeat fights and summons — so there is no honest number to put here. The proportion holds anyway, so two out of every three are things you have to go looking for.

Only four fights stand between you and the next chapter, so this is the easiest place in the game to leave two-thirds of the content behind without noticing.

Fourteen bosses, four of them required

Ten of the fourteen are optional, which makes this one of the chapters where a straight-line run misses most of what was built for it. Zhu Bajie is fought twice here, so the first encounter is not the end of that thread.

Six meditation spots are hidden across the chapter — a quarter of the game’s twenty-four, and the largest concentration outside Yellow Wind Ridge.

Cross-checked

Cross-checked on 6 September 2026 and re-checked on 26 September 2026 against the guides of Game8, Fextralife, GamerGuides and Vandal. They do not agree on which four bosses count as the required ones by name, so this page gives the 4-of-14 ratio rather than naming them. What is still unverified is the only thing reading cannot settle — nobody here has played it.
