Wilds has 50 trophies and most of them fall out of playing normally. The platinum is not decided by the 40-odd you will earn without trying — it is decided by the crown trophies, which are a hunt for randomly sized monsters and can outlast the rest of the list several times over.
The shape of the list
The crowns are the real list
What a crown is
Every large monster spawns at a random size. A miniature or gold crown is recorded in your Hunting Log when you hunt an unusually small or large one, and you cannot make it happen — only hunt more.
Four trophies, escalating
Miniature Crown and Giant Crown are your first of each (bronze). The Collector pair asks for 10 monsters each (silver). The Master pair — both gold — asks for 'many', which is where the grind lives.
The binoculars trophy is free
A Keen-eyed Observation only asks you to spot a gold-crown monster through the binoculars. You will be using them to check sizes anyway.
Decide early
If you are not going to chase crowns, the other 46 trophies are a comfortable single playthrough. If you are, plan for the crowns to be most of the time you spend.
The ones people miss
- East to West, A Hunter Never Rests — 30 different side missions, which means talking to people rather than hunting.
- Someone Worth Following — 100 quests with your Palico deployed, so leave it deployed from the start.
- A Prize Held High and I Caught a Shooting Star! — two specific creature catches, both silver, both easy to never stumble into.
- Monster (Squid) Hunter — a giant squid, caught while fishing.
- Gossip Hunter and Newly Forged Bonds — social trophies that need other players' profiles.
- Burgeois Hunter — a million zenny held at once, which is easy to spend past without noticing.
