Survival Tips

Requiem is two games sharing a story. Grace's half is about not being caught; Leon's is about handling what catches you. Playing both the same way is the quickest route to running out of everything.

Grace: do not fight everything

  • Her knives — the Makeshift and the Hunting Knife — have severely limited durability and cannot be repaired. They are escapes, not weapons.
  • First person hides what is behind you. Turn before you commit to a corridor, not after.
  • From Standard (Classic) upward, a save costs an Ink Ribbon. Save at decisions, not at doors.
  • Her firearms are for making space, not for winning a room. Running is a valid answer and often the correct one.

Leon: the hatchet changes everything

  • The Hatchet is unbreakable, uses no ammo, and parries incoming melee — it is a defensive tool first.
  • A parry into a counter is far cheaper than the bullets that would have solved the same problem.
  • His half plays like the modern remakes: aim for the shot that creates the follow-up, not the kill.
  • Third person gives you the peripheral vision Grace does not have. Use it to track what is flanking you.

Resources

  1. Loot everything, early

This is survival horror: what you skip in the first hours is what you do not have in the last.

  2. Buy at the Supply Boxes

Several of Leon's guns — the Silencer 9, the 990-TAC and the Stiri REVO3 A1 — come from Supply Boxes rather than from the floor, so carrying cash matters.

  3. Do not hoard the good ammo

The classic mistake in every Resident Evil: finishing with a full magnum reserve and dying to an ordinary enemy two rooms earlier.

  4. Seven weapons are post-clear

Freya's Needle, Koktesu, Matilda IMP, Ghost Grudge, Redemption, Clatter Carbine and the RPG-7 all unlock from the Special Content menu after you finish. They are a reason to replay, not something you missed.

Cross-checked

Cross-checked on 7 September 2026 against GamingBolt's weapon list, GameSpot's weapon-locations gallery and Beebom's weapons guide, which agree on the knives' limited durability and that they cannot be repaired, on the Hatchet being unbreakable and used to parry, on the Supply Box purchases, and on the seven Special Content unlocks. What is still unverified is the only thing reading cannot settle — nobody here has played it.
