The questions people ask
Do I need to play A Plague Tale: Innocence or Requiem first?
No. Focus and Asobo say you can enjoy Resonance and get the full experience without having played either. It is a prequel set fifteen years before Requiem, starring Sophia, who first appeared in Requiem.
How long is it?
Focus puts it at about 20 hours. Getting every achievement takes roughly the same in one careful run, since almost everything can be done on the way.
How many chapters are there?
Fourteen, from Chapter I, Blood Ties, to Chapter XIV, What Remains. The game is linear, with chapter select available at any time.
Is it on Game Pass?
Yes, since day one (27 August 2026), on Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass, for console, PC, handheld and cloud. It is also an Xbox Play Anywhere game.
Is it on PS4, Xbox One or Switch?
No. It is on PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC only.
Is there multiplayer or co-op?
No. It is single-player only.
Are there rats like in the earlier games?
Not as the swarms you fended off with light in Innocence and Requiem. The reviews note that the rat hordes, slingshot and alchemy are gone; the threats are soldiers, armoured Puppets, the Petrified and a creature that hunts you.
How do I change the difficulty?
At any time, under Settings, General, along with Invincible Mode. There are five levels, from Narrative, which parries and dodges for you, to Nightmare.
What carries over through chapter select?
Artefacts, charms, blades, Theseus' Echoes and achievements all count when collected in chapter select. Resonance Points do not: replaying a chapter resets your points to what you had when you first played it.
How many collectibles are there?
37 artefacts (Relics of the Past and of the Present), 30 charms (five of them from Theseus' Echoes) and 8 blades, plus 200 Resonance Points. A ninth blade comes with the Heritage Pack and does not count.
Can I miss anything for good?
Only enough Resonance Points to fall short of the 165 needed to buy every skill, which locks you out of Like a warrior for that playthrough. Everything else can be picked up in chapter select.
What is in the Heritage Pack?
A sword, Alec's Pendant, which boosts all your charms, and a digital artbook. The store page says every third hit of the sword stuns; Vandal's blade guide gives it the Falchion's technique instead, extra damage after a critical strike. It was a pre-order bonus and now sells for $3.99 on Steam.
Does the Collector Box include the game?
No. It contains a figurine, a SteelBook, art prints and a ring replica, but no disc and no code.
Can I make manual saves?
No. There is one autosave per profile, and six profile slots.
Is there New Game Plus?
No.
Does it run on Steam Deck?
