Silent Hill: Townfall — The Questions Everyone Asks

The one everybody gets wrong

It is not set in the town of Silent Hill, and it is not a sequel to anything. St. Amelia is an island off the Scottish coast in 1996, and Screen Burn calls the game full-length and self-contained. Silent Hill here is what it has always been under the name: a place where a person's past comes up out of the water. If you are waiting for James or for Silent Hill f, this is a different door.

After launch

How long is it?

Ten to fifteen hours in the reviews: Push Square about 10, GamingTrend 10 to 12, PC Gamer and IGN 13, Eurogamer and PlayStation Universe about 15. Objectives alone, under 2 hours; collecting every document, under 3; the platinum, 15 to 25.

Is there a difficulty trophy?

No. Story and Hinted are enough for all 37. Difficulty is Story, Normal or Nightmare, and puzzles are Hinted or Normal.

Is there a chapter select?

No chapter select and no free roam. Going back means reloading an older save or starting a new game.

What can I miss?

Technically every collectible, because areas close behind you — but progress toward the collectible trophies carries between playthroughs, so a missed item can be picked up on the next run. Seventeen trophies are missable within a run, the endings, Fleeting Visit and Reject The Help among them.

What does New Game+ carry over?

Nothing you carried: weapons and items are collected again. It adds the Axe from the first chapter, the two extra endings and — after the Sci-fi ending — the Pistol-3000. Collectible and cumulative trophy progress is kept.

How are the endings decided?

Three by Discoveries — Clues and Documents — against Kills, and nothing else; two by items in New Game+. The How Endings Work page has both sources' numbers.

Do I have to fight?

Rarely. Every review describes a stealth game with fighting as the fallback, and PC Gamer did not fight until late on Normal. Around twenty kills are unavoidable, and each one counts toward the ending.

How do I save?

Call 100 from any phone. Autosaves also fire after story beats. One autosave slot and twenty manual.

Does it run on Steam Deck?

Borderline (Steam Deck HQ, 3/5): 30 fps at the lowest settings with TSR upscaling while walking, drops toward 10 fps when running through town. PC Gamer marks Deck support unknown.

Is it on Xbox?

No. Konami's blurb says not on other consoles until at least six months after release (PlayStation Universe, August 2026).

How big is it?

51.18 GB on PS5; Konami lists 75 GB for PC.

Is there a photo mode?

No.

Can I rebind the controls?

No. The CRTV's motion tuning can be switched off, and the letterbox can be turned off in gameplay.

Is it scary?

GamesRadar+: it scared, upset and impressed a reviewer with a thick skin. IGN: light on big scares early because the CRTV warns you, then it gets you good. TheSixthAxis: perhaps the scariest Silent Hill.

Is there a demo?

None was announced before launch, and none of the launch coverage mentions one.

Is St. Amelia a real place?

No, but it is built from real ones: Screen Burn photographed East Neuk fishing villages, and St Monans in Fife was the model.

Cross-checked

Cross-checked on 22 September 2026 against Konami's Steam description, the guides of PowerPyx and GameRant, Wikipedia, PlayStation Universe, Steam Deck HQ and the launch reviews at GamingTrend, GamesRadar+, Push Square, Rock Paper Shotgun, VGC, PC Gamer, IGN, Eurogamer and TheSixthAxis. Not from a playthrough: nobody here has played it, and what the sources do not describe is not on this page.
