The House of Hades

Hades is as much a family drama as a roguelike. Gifting Nectar and Ambrosia deepens these relationships, hands you Keepsakes and companion summons, and slowly unravels a story that spans the whole cast — from the House staff to the gods of Olympus you'll never actually meet in person.

The House

🩸 Zagreus
The Prince of the Underworld and your character, determined to escape and find his mother.
👑 Hades
Lord of the Dead, your father — and the final boss of every run.
🌙 Nyx
Night incarnate, who raised Zagreus and gifts the Mirror of Night.
⚔️ Achilles
Your kindly mentor; his Keepsake (Achilles' Bond) and advice guide early runs.
🐶 Cerberus
The three-headed guard dog of the House — a very good boy who gives the Old Spiked Collar.
💤 Hypnos
Sleep, who tallies your deaths at the entrance with a smile and helpful notes.

Allies & rivals

🔥 Megaera
A Fury and your first recurring boss — and a possible romance.
💀 Thanatos
Death himself, who drops in mid-run to compete for kills; beat his tally for a reward.
🐍 Dusa
The shy gorgon housekeeper who tidies the House and slowly opens up.
🎵 Orpheus & Eurydice
The musician and the nymph whose songs score your journey and hide a reconciliation quest.
🪨 Sisyphus
The cheerful boulder-pusher you can meet out in the biomes for a heal and a chat.
💐 Persephone
The mother Zagreus is searching for — the heart of the story.

How gifting works

  1. Start with Nectar

Give any character a bottle of Nectar and most reward you with their unique Keepsake the first time.

  2. Find their favourite spot

Some characters (Sisyphus, Eurydice, Patroclus) only appear out in the biomes — bring Nectar on your run to reach them.

  3. Switch to Ambrosia

Once a bond is high enough, gifting turns to Ambrosia, which deepens friendships and unlocks companion summons or romance.

  4. Follow the story threads

Maxed bonds trigger side-quests — reuniting Orpheus and Eurydice, Achilles and Patroclus, and more — that are core to full completion.

The Olympians above

⚡ The gods of Olympus
Zeus and the family send Boons and cheer Zagreus on, but you never meet them in person — only through their gifts and messages.
💌 Family surprise
Zagreus is their unknown nephew; their reactions to his existence drive much of the between-run banter.
🎁 Calling a relative
Equipping an Olympian's keepsake guarantees their Boon in the first chamber — a way to 'summon' the god you want.
