Palworld drops you on a beach with nothing but your fists and a Pal Sphere recipe. Here's the fast track from naked survivor to a self-running base with a team of Pals — the loop of catch, build, automate and gear up that carries you all the way to the first tower.
First hours
Catch a starter or two
Craft Pal Spheres and weaken wild Pals before throwing — lower HP and a back-hit bonus mean a higher catch rate. Lamball, Cattiva and Chikipi are easy first tames that also work your base.
Build your first base
Place a Palbox to claim territory, then a campfire, crafting bench and a few beds. Drop Pals into the base and they auto-assign to jobs.
Match Pals to jobs
Every Pal has Work Suitabilities (Kindling, Watering, Handiwork…). Assign the right Pals so your base gathers, crafts and cooks on its own while you explore.
Climb the tech tree
Spend Technology Points on level-up to unlock gear, a mount, better spheres and base structures.
Prep, then hit the first tower
Gear up, bring a Ground-type Pal and ranged weapons, then challenge Zoe & Grizzbolt at the Rayne tower.
Early tips
- Collect Lifmunk Effigies out in the world — turn them in to the statue to permanently raise your capture rate.
- Keep Pals fed: a full Feed Box and a hot spring keep base workers happy and productive.
- Chain-catch the same species (10+) to fill the Paldeck bonus and earn stat boosts.
- Carry a Pal with Transporting so hauled loot lands in your chests automatically.
- Mounts trivialise travel — unlock a flyer or a fast ground mount as soon as you can.
Common beginner mistakes
- Overloading one base with too many Pals — work slows when the base is crowded or Pals get stuck.
- Ignoring sanity: a stressed, hungry Pal stops working; add a hot spring and food early.
- Fighting towers under-levelled with the wrong element — bring the counter type and gear up first.
- Forgetting to raise the Palbox tier, which caps how many Pals a base can hold.
- Hoarding Paldium instead of crafting spheres — you catch (and level the Paldeck) faster than you think.

Common questions
What's the fastest way to raise my catch rate?
Collect Lifmunk Effigies and turn them in at the statue — that boost is permanent and global. On top of that, weaken the Pal to a sliver of health and throw at its back for the bonus multiplier, and use the highest sphere tier you can craft.
Why have my Pals stopped working?
Almost always hunger or sanity. Keep the Feed Box stocked, build a hot spring so stressed Pals recover, and add beds so they rest. Overcrowding also slows a base — raise the Palbox tier or move Pals to a second base.
Which tower should I fight first?
Zoe & Grizzbolt at the Rayne tower. They're Electric, so bring a Ground-type Pal such as Rushoar or Anubis, plus a ranged weapon and healing items.
Do I really need a second base?
Yes, by mid-game. Building directly on an ore or coal cluster lets mining Pals work it nonstop, which removes the ingot and ammo bottleneck that stalls most players around the third tower.
