Base & Combat Systems

Palworld is equal parts survival base-builder and creature collector. These are the systems that make both click — the jobs your Pals do at home, the way capturing and breeding shape your roster, and the element chart that decides every fight.

Pals at work

🛠️ Work Suitabilities
Each Pal is rated 0-10 for jobs like Kindling, Watering, Planting, Mining, Lumbering, Handiwork, Gathering, Cooling, Transporting and Generating Electricity — natural levels usually cap around 8, and a Pal Essence Condenser adds +1 more per use up to that ceiling of 10.
⚡ Partner Skills
A Pal's active ability when out with you — anything from a flat mount-speed boost to Digtoise's Drill Crusher (shreds large rocks in seconds) or Jetragon's homing-missile barrage.
🥚 Breeding
Pair two Pals at a Breeding Farm with cake, and the game averages their hidden 'breeding power' (Vandal gives a scale of 10 to 1500, while PalDB's 1.0 data puts Bellanoir Libero at 130 and Chikipi at 3080) to find whichever species sits closest to that number — the result isn't a logical mix of the two parents, it's whatever hits that value, which is why breeding charts exist.
🧪 Condensation
Merge duplicates at the Pal Essence Condenser across four star ranks, costing 4, 8, 12 and then 24 duplicates (48 total to max one Pal) — a steep cut from what the same four stars cost before the 1.0 patch.

Catching & combat

🔴 Pal Spheres & capture rate
Spheres run from the base Pal Sphere (+7 capture power) to Exotic (+50), with the Sol (+58) and Ancient (+64) spheres above it; lower target HP and status ailments raise your odds most, and Lifmunk Effigies add a further permanent bump. A back-hit mostly stops the sphere bouncing off rather than adding a flat bonus.
🌀 Elements
Nine types (Fire, Water, Grass, Electric, Ground, Ice, Dark, Dragon, Neutral) with a rock-paper-scissors chart — bring the right counter to each tower.
🔫 Guns + Pals
You fight alongside your active Pal; some Pals become mounted weapons. Ranged weapons carry the tough tower fights.

Element counters at a glance

Bring the counter type to a tower and the fight roughly halves in length.

Sanity & status

  • Pals carry a sanity (SAN) meter running 0-100; the optimal range is 80-100, and every 90 seconds the game rolls a 50% chance to check for misbehaviour, with slacking, sleeping on the job and sickness unlocking as SAN keeps dropping.
  • A hot spring and good food restore sanity, but a Pal only regains it passively once its stomach sits above 30% — a hungry base never recovers no matter how good the spring is.
  • Injured or sick Pals need a Pal Bed and time (or a medical station) to recover.
  • In the field, your active Pal tires too — swap Pals to keep Partner Skills fresh.
