Pal Gear unlocks a Pal's Partner Skill for you to use — a mount, a glider, a mounted weapon or a utility tool. Getting the right saddles crafted at the right time reshapes how you travel, fight and gather.
Get moving
- Craft a Pal's specific saddle/harness at the Pal Gear Workbench to ride or deploy it.
- Early flyer: Nitewing; endgame flyer: Jetragon; fast ground: Direhowl then Necromus.
- Some Pals become mounted weapons (miniguns, flamethrowers) — great for towers.
- Utility gear (Grappling Gun-style skills, mining boosts) opens up traversal and gathering.

🦅 Early flyers
Nitewing and Vanwyrm get you airborne cheaply — a huge quality-of-life jump.
🐕 Early ground
Direhowl and Eikthyrdeer are fast, easy tames for the opening hours.
🐉 Endgame
Jetragon (air) and Necromus (ground) are the fastest rides in the game.
🌊 Water
Surfent and other swimmers let you cross the seas between islands.
Gear tips
Keep one flyer, one fast ground mount and one utility Pal saddled at all times — swapping between them covers travel, combat traversal and gathering without a trip back to base. Upgrade to Jetragon and Necromus as soon as you catch them; the speed difference is enormous.
Utility Partner Skills
- Some Pals' Partner Skills double as tools — extra mining, logging or a grappling-style pull.
- Keep a utility Pal in your party for gathering boosts and traversal, not just combat.
- Gliders (from certain flyers) let you cross gaps safely before you have a full mount.
- Swap Pal Gear loadouts to suit the trip — travel, a boss fight or a mining run.
