Your First Days as a Nobody

Saving
Saviour Schnapps saves the game and gets you drunk; beds you are allowed to sleep in also save.
Reading
Henry cannot read until the scribe in Uzhitz teaches him, for a fee — Mysterious Ways takes you there anyway.
Training
Captain Bernard in Rattay, three times: basics, combos, then master strikes once your sword skill allows.
Decided in the first hour
Merciful (kill nobody but Runt), Virgin (no romances) and King Charming (80+ reputation everywhere) are whole-playthrough trophies.

Three things to understand in Rattay

🍺 Saving is schnapps
Saviour Schnapps saves the game and gets you drunk. Beds you are allowed to sleep in save too; so does quitting on the exit-save. Brew or buy the schnapps early and carry two. Hardcore turns off autosaving (Warhorse).
📖 Henry cannot read
Literally. The scribe in Uzhitz teaches him, for a fee, and until then every book is gibberish. Reading is the skill that trains every other skill; go to Uzhitz early.
🛡️ Bernard, three times
Captain Bernard in Rattay teaches the basics, then combos, then — when your sword skill is high enough — the master strike. The game does not tell you to come back. Come back.

The first ten hours

  1. Rattay

Peshek’s mill, the town, Bernard’s yard. Train, sleep, train. The tourney and the bathhouse are here.

  2. Money

Sell what you find, fight in the tourney, work for Peshek (which teaches lockpicking and fencing stolen goods).

  3. Uzhitz for reading

Mysterious Ways takes you there anyway; the scribe is off the main street.

  4. Pebbles

Henry’s first horse comes free at the start of The Hunt Begins; treat her well, she is in the sequel.

  5. Everything Rattay before Baptism of Fire

Main quest 14 is the first of the two points after which side quests close; finish what you have open first.

The three trophies decided in the first hour

  • Merciful: kill nobody during the main quests except Runt. Knock out, sneak past, talk. Decide before Skalitz burns.
  • Virgin: no bathhouse wenches, no Theresa, no Stephanie. The romance quests still complete without the bed.
  • King Charming: reputation of 80 or more in every town at the end. Steal from nobody you can be seen by, and give beggars coins.

Still to verify

Cross-checked on 17 September 2026 against PowerPyx’s trophy roadmap, the Kingdom Come wiki and Warhorse’s own descriptions of the save system. What is still unverified is the only thing reading cannot settle — nobody here has played it.
