Where It Runs, What It Targets, and the Final PC Specs

Where it runs

Xbox Series X|S
Both consoles. The ESRB listing covers Xbox Series and Windows PC. We found no separate Series S target from Xbox or The Coalition; the table below has what was measured on it.
PC, two storefronts
Microsoft Store — as Xbox on PC — and Steam. Xbox Play Anywhere means one purchase covers console and Microsoft Store PC; Steam is bought separately.
Cloud
Xbox Wire's June write-up lists cloud alongside console and PC. We found nothing further on cloud performance, beyond a fix in the 22 October hotfix to a Cloud Gaming default that forced Quality mode.
No PlayStation version
Xbox CEO Asha Sharma reportedly stated at the June showcase that E-Day is an Xbox console exclusive, and that PS5 will not get it. A June press follow-up records Xbox maintaining that a PS5 version was never under discussion; Vandal instead reports that a PS5 version had leaked and was cancelled for Xbox's return to console exclusives. Nothing has been promised for any other console, timed or otherwise.

Resolution and frame rate: three published accounts

SourceWhat it says
Xbox Wire and xbox.com4K resolution and up to 60fps, stated as covering both campaign and multiplayer. This is the line Xbox repeats across its own posts, including the 17 September gone-gold post.
Wikipedia, and GamingBolt's headline60fps in campaign with ray tracing enabled, and up to 120fps in multiplayer. The 120fps figure does not appear in any Xbox post we read.
Digital Foundry, as reported by Pure Xbox and Twisted Voxel on 1 OctoberThree modes on both consoles: Quality at 30fps, Balanced at 40fps and Performance at 60fps. Series X averages about 1152p, 1000p and 936p; Series S about 648p in Balanced and 576p in Performance, upscaled with TSR. For Series S in Quality, Pure Xbox gives 729p and Twisted Voxel 792p. Vandal's review lists the same three frame rates.
Press Start's hands-onMentions a balanced console mode running at 40fps, and reports the preview build performing well across its visual modes. No Xbox post names console graphics modes; Vandal's review, played on Xbox Series X, lists 60, 40 and 30fps modes for the campaign.

What the engine is doing

  • Unreal Engine 5, built from scratch rather than carried forward: technical director Kate Rayner's line is that characters, enemies, weapons, animation, sound and the world were all rebuilt.
  • MegaLights, Unreal's lighting system, is used for the dynamic lighting and shadows (Xbox Wire's June Direct write-up).
  • On PC, hardware ray tracing covers reflections, shadows and global illumination (from the 17 September spec sheet).
  • Ray tracing is not optional on PC: graphics cards without dedicated hardware ray tracing support are not supported at all.
  • Upscaling is assumed at every PC tier, including minimum. Supported upscalers are NVIDIA DLSS 4.5, AMD FSR 4 and Intel XeSS 3.0.
  • Native HDR10, and on PC precompiled shaders delivered with the download to avoid compilation stutter on first boot.

Fields the spec sheet did not reach us with

Neither DSOGaming's nor TechSpot's transcription of the 17 September sheet carries an operating system, a DirectX version or per-card VRAM figures, and Xbox Wire published the table as an image its article text does not repeat. Those fields are therefore blank here rather than guessed. The two transcriptions also disagree about Intel Arc: DSOGaming lists the A580 and B580 among supported cards, TechSpot reports that Intel Arc cards were removed from the list, and Vandal's transcription of the final sheet lists no Intel card. No console install size has been published — the 115 GB figure is the PC requirement.

Cross-checked

Cross-checked on 22 September 2026 against Xbox Wire, xbox.com, the ESRB listing and the reporting of DSOGaming, TechSpot, Wikipedia, GamingBolt, Press Start, VGC and Game Informer, re-checked on 1 October 2026 against Vandal and Eurogamer.es, and on 5 October 2026 against Wikipedia's article and Game8's preload page, which only estimates the download. Not from a playthrough: checked against the sources above. Still to confirm in-game. The console modes were checked on 6 November 2026 against Pure Xbox's and Twisted Voxel's reports of Digital Foundry; the mode names come from Twisted Voxel. The Cloud Gaming fix comes from games.gg alone.
