Final Fantasy VII Rebirth — Questions People Actually Ask

Buying and starting

🖥️ What is it on?
PS5 since 29 February 2024, PC (Steam and Epic) since 23 January 2025, and Nintendo Switch 2, Xbox Series X|S and Xbox on PC since 3 June 2026. There is no PS4 version.
🆕 What is different in the 2026 versions?
Streamlined Progression: an optional mode with unlimited HP and MP, full limit and ATB gauges, 9,999 damage and faster weapon abilities, for people who want the story and the hybrid combat without the grind. The Switch 2 and Xbox editions also add the Moogle Trio and Posh Chocobo summons and two Midgar bangles; the Digital Deluxe adds Magic Pot, an accessory and an armlet plus the artbook and mini-soundtrack. Square Enix's notice does not say whether Streamlined Progression reaches PS5 or Steam.
📼 Do I need Remake?
No. The recap covers it and a Remake save only adds summons (Leviathan; Ramuh with Intermission). You will get more out of the ending having played it.
⏳ How long?
Around forty hours for the story with light exploring, a hundred to see everything once, and 150 to 200 for the platinum.

Playing it

🚫 Is anything missable?
No. Chapter select after the credits reopens every chapter with everything kept, so quests, intel, minigames and the tournament can all be done later. The only cost of missing something is doing the chapter again.
💘 How does the date work?
Chapter 12's Gold Saucer date goes to whoever has the highest relationship: conversations, side-quest choices and minigame outcomes all count, and the ranking is shown as a face icon after some events. Six companions are possible. It changes one scene, not the plot.
🎚️ Which difficulty?
Dynamic for a first playthrough: it scales enemies with you so exploring does not trivialise the story. Hard unlocks after the credits and is a second playthrough by chapter select.
🃏 Do I have to play Queen's Blood?
Only the tutorial in Kalm and, for the trophy, the Shinra-8 tournament. Everything else is optional — and most people end up playing it anyway.
🐤 Why can't I reach that intel?
Each region's chocobo has a traversal trick — water, sand, mushrooms, gliding, climbing — and some intel needs it. Catch the region's chocobo (Chocobo Intel) first.

Still to verify

Cross-checked on 16 September 2026 against Square Enix's 2026 platform notice and the guides of PowerPyx and Game8. What is still unverified is the only thing reading cannot settle — nobody here has played it.
