Your First Days in the Bohemian Paradise

Saving
Saviour Schnapps saves anywhere and costs a potion; otherwise a bed or a bath.
First ten hours
Troskowitz, then Tomcat’s two Combat Training quests — the best experience per minute in the game — then Mutt and a book.
Money
Groschen come from work, not chests: the mill, the forge, dice and selling what you find.
Two mistakes
Eating meat or killing an animal before deciding about Lent; letting Hans pay the herbwoman.

Three things to understand before the first fight

🛏️ Saving is a schnapps, a bed or a bath
Saviour Schnapps saves anywhere and costs a potion (or the alchemy to brew one). Beds you own or rent save when you sleep; bathhouses save too. There is no quicksave: Save and Quit from the menu keeps a single slot that each use overwrites. Every main quest also leaves a permanent checkpoint, which is why almost nothing is truly missable.
⚔️ You are weak on purpose
Henry starts the game beaten to nothing. Two Combat Training quests with Tomcat at the nomads’ camp teach the master strike and the perfect block and hand out experience; do both before you go looking for a fight you cannot yet win.
💰 Groschen come from work, not chests
The early economy is the mill, the forge, dice, and selling what you find. The Groschen Must Flow and The Lord Taketh Away are both trophies, ten thousand each way on paper (PowerPyx says The Lord Taketh Away actually unlocks at 1,000 lost), and the game is happy to take it back if you are careless.

The first ten hours

  1. Troskowitz

Wake up, find Hans, talk to everyone. The tavern, the bathhouse, the blacksmith and the apothecary are the four services the region runs on.

  2. Combat Training I and II

Tomcat’s two lessons are the best experience per minute in the game. Learn the master strike now, not at Kuttenberg.

  3. Mutt

The side quest that gives Henry his dog back: Man’s Best Friend is the trophy, and a dog that fetches, tracks and bites is the reward.

  4. Read

Scholarship is a skill; books train it and the skill books train everything else. Henry reads from the start this time.

  5. Semine and the wedding

Wedding Crashers is where the region opens up socially; get there with money, clean clothes and a horse.

  6. Everything Trosky, before Necessary Evil

Main quest 8 is the door closing. Seventeen side quests and eighteen tasks live in Trosky (EliteGuias, Fextralife; PCGamesN counts seventeen tasks); the ones you skip come back only after the story.

Two mistakes

  • Eating meat or killing an animal before you decide about Lent. The trophy is a whole playthrough without either.
  • Letting Hans pay the herbwoman. A Knight’s Word is Henry paying first, early, in Trosky.

Still to verify

Cross-checked on 17 September 2026 and re-checked on 1 October 2026 against the guides of PowerPyx, PCGamesN, Fextralife, Vandal, EliteGuias and Eurogamer.es. What is still unverified is the only thing reading cannot settle — nobody here has played it.
