The one that keeps coming up
Before launch
Is it a sequel to Control?
Yes. Remedy calls it the sequel, set after the first game, with Jesse's brother Dylan as the lead. Push Square places it seven years later.
Do I need to have played Control?
Remedy says no: both games stand on their own, and Resonant is meant as an easy entry point.
Can I play early?
Only on PS5, with the Digital Deluxe Edition, from 22 September. The Xbox and Steam Deluxe editions do not include early access.
When can I pre-load?
Reported, not officially announced in what we read: from 20 September for the PS5 Deluxe and from 22 September for everyone else (Insider Gaming and Game Rant, citing the PlayStation Game Size account on X).
Is it on Game Pass or PlayStation Plus?
Not announced for either. It is on sale at $59.99 on every store we checked.
Is it on Switch or Switch 2?
No Nintendo version has been announced. The platforms are PS5, Xbox Series X|S, PC and, later in 2026, Mac.
How long is it?
Remedy says 25 to 35 hours for the main story. Push Square's campaign took about 25 hours; VGC puts a straight run at a little over 12 to 15 hours and about double that for everything.
Is it open world?
Remedy says no: large, separate zones of Manhattan with side activities. GameSpot's review, as quoted by OpenCritic, calls it semi-open-world.
Is there multiplayer or an online requirement?
Neither. It is single-player and does not need an internet connection (Remedy's FAQ). Remedy's multiplayer Control spin-off is a separate game, FBC: Firebreak.
Is there a parry?
No, according to VGC and Kotaku. Dodging, including a perfect-dodge window, is the defensive tool Remedy describes.
Can I make it easier — or harder?
Yes. Assist Mode has eleven options, from enemy aggression to immortality, and its sliders go both ways. It can be changed at any time and locks no trophies.
Does it run on Steam Deck?
Remedy's FAQ says it is supported at launch. Steam's own compatibility rating had not been shown when we checked.
Is there a physical edition?
Yes, from 15 October on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S: a Standard Edition and a SteelBook Edition. There is no Collector's Edition.
What did the reviews say?
Mostly favourable: Metacritic 83 on PS5, OpenCritic 85 with 86% recommending. Praise goes to the art direction, the city and the cast; the melee combat divides reviewers, with several finding it repetitive in the later hours.
Is there DLC planned?
None announced. Remedy calls it complete at launch and promises updates and improvements as needed, plus Arabic interface and subtitles at a date still to come.
