A handful of habits that smooth out the whole game. None of them are secrets — they are the things experienced players do without thinking and new players learn the hard way.
Exploration & economy
- Explore every branch — Wukong hides upgrades and bosses off the critical path.
- Don't hoard Sparks; a respec is free, so experiment with stances and spells.
- Craft the newest staff and armour whenever a boss drops the materials.
- Read Curio and Spirit descriptions — some combos trivialise specific fights.
Combat
- Immobilize + charged Heavy is your bread and butter — practise the timing.
- Keep a transformation and a full gourd banked before entering a boss arena.
- Perfect-dodge the big wind-ups for the largest counter windows.
- Stay aggressive — passivity gives bosses time to chain their worst combos.
Quality of life
- Fast-travel between shrines rather than backtracking on foot.
- Respec is free — reshape your build for any wall boss without guilt.
- Top up the gourd and re-equip at the shrine before every boss arena.
- Read new Curio, Spirit and staff descriptions; some combos trivialise a fight.
In every fight
- Spend the first exchange watching. One pass of pure defence beats three deaths of guessing.
- Heal early. A gourd charge held for a perfect moment is a charge you die holding.
- Keep one dodge of stamina in reserve at all times.
- If you have been stuck for three attempts, change the loadout rather than trying harder.
Between fights
- Check the shrine's crafting list every chapter — you often have materials for something already.
- Respec freely. It is cheap and it is meant to be used.
- Sweep side paths before triggering the chapter boss.
- Restock consumables before a boss, not after dying to it.
