Spells & Transformations

The Destined One draws on four schools. You equip one spell from each, so a loadout is four decisions rather than one — and because swapping is free at any shrine, none of them is permanent. Below is what each school is *for*, which matters more than any single spell.

Still to verify. Still to confirm in-game: the full spell list per school, which chapter each one drops in, and their Mana costs.

The four schools

🧊 Mysticism
Control spells like Immobilize — freeze a foe in place for free damage.
🌀 Alteration
Trickery like Rock Solid — turn to stone to negate a hit and counter.
🧵 Strand (Pluck of Many)
Clone spells that spawn copies of Wukong from your hairs to swarm enemies.
🐾 Transformations
Turn into powerful forms with their own moveset and a separate health bar.

Spirits & forms

👻 Spirits
Defeated Yaoguai leave Spirits you can equip for a one-shot special move and a passive.
🐒 Transformations
Unlockable forms — e.g. Red Tides and Azure Dome — each a temporary powerhouse for tough moments.
🏺 Vessels & Curios
Equippable relics that grant passives; build them around your spell and stance choices.

Building a loadout

You can slot one spell from each school at once, so a strong default is a control spell (Immobilize), a defensive trick (Rock Solid), a burst option (Pluck of Many), and a Transformation held in reserve. Because respecs and swaps are free at shrines, treat your loadout as a per-boss decision — bring the tools that answer that fight's patterns.

Spirits vs Transformations

  • Spirits are a quick one-shot special plus a passive — cheap to fire and reuse.
  • Transformations are a full separate form with their own health bar — a bigger commitment.
  • Use Spirits to create openings; use Transformations to reset a losing phase.
  • You equip one of each, so pick a Spirit and a form that cover different situations.

Picking a loadout

  • Always carry one window-maker. Without it you are waiting on boss mistakes.
  • Carry at most one purely defensive pick, or fights stretch out and attrition beats you.
  • Match the fourth slot to the fight rather than leaving it on whatever you unlocked last.
  • Swapping is free — a loadout you never change is a loadout you have stopped thinking about.
